Disassemble procedure to many brand TVs, Monitors and other devices are given with illustrations.
blorip, You will need to prove that x193w lcd monitor also does same when connected to different "known-good" pc!! Learn how to tell the difference between a "black screen" and a "black n blank screen" with use of a bright flashlight held 1 inch from lcd panel and at different angles. Yes, there is a difference!!! If problem proves not to be PC software, then must be problem with ccfl back-lit lcd display. You should view DIY repair and disassembly video clips at YOUTUBE before attempting to do any repairs to your Acer unit. Read some stuff in my fixya profile( pages 30 and up) for more info and links. Also view fixya profiles of "budmrtn" and "buddymc" . Follow links you find in profiles. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie
inc_power, Please go to YOUTUBE and watch some video clips of how the professionals do it. Try this. "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" for starters. Be careful and do not use sharp cutting instruments to pry with or you may be making a trip to the local hospital ER to have doctor sew up the gushing wound you have inflicted upon your body. Parting the rear cover from the front "bezel" is the "key" to getting inside unit. 12fixlouie
warc619, Maybe the "button" is only thing broken. Maybe the "switch" is broken. Yoyu will need to see if you can view some video clips of monitor disassembly and repair at YOUTUBE first. Then you will need to "teardown" your unit and determine exactly what component(s) have failed and if you can get new exact same size unit from "Digikey" or "Radio Shack" or "Mouser".... WOW! you may even need to learn how to carefully desolder the bad switch and solder in the new one. Good luck with the repair. You didn't tell us what type of monitor you own!! CRT or CCFL back-lit LCD???? 12fixlouie
simcraft's link was great ! It has pictures showing the dismantling procedure, but the document is in Chinese and so is the web site where it is located. Please remember that some internal components can retain a dangerous charge of electricity for a few minutes after disconnection from the ac outlet. Wait at least 5 minutes before attempting the disassembly. Try to find the service manual for any other LG LCD in your language and read the safety procedures - they are pretty much the same for all models.
ssocko123, If you plan on replacing the switch let me suggest that you go watch some video clips of lcd monitor disassembly at YOUTUBE!!!
The longer (6-12minute) ones will be more helpful. Stay away from the usless ones where they shoot them with guns or use 10lb crow bars to open them!! Have fun guy. 12fixlouie if this was of some help please rate on fixya.....
david_c_whit, Gosh, darn, You're smart!!! You hit the nail on the head with 6pound sledge!!! Good going! Now all you need to do is visit YOUTUBE and search for and view some of the longer video clips(8-12min) long. search for "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD repair" clips. Then get back to me and tell me what you learned about "bad, swollen, leaking electrolytic filter capacitors and or bad solder joints on printed circuit boards found inside LCD displays and or better yet found on "switch-mode-power-supplies" and "INVERTER" circuit boards. Hope to hear from you soon. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol
Bye for now.
There are 2 ways to opened it... 1: from the back, removed 4 screws and get a good grip on both open edges and pulled. Need to give it some force to it. 2: The other, it from the front bezel. First laid it face up and placed a piece of cloth or micro-fiber cloth over the screen to prevent smudges or damaged from the 4 knuckles . Then use both 8 fingers to grasp onto to edges of a bezel and lift it up with some force to it. Do the same on other side Good luck!
I couldn?t find disassembly instructions for your CRT; however, I can give you some safety warnings and some general hints. If no one else posts at mine will either discourage you OR give you enough to start.
First off CRTs are dangerous, taking one apart without the proper training and precautions can kill or severely injure you. If you don?t already have the training and experience discharging the stored energy in the monitor you should not attempt it even if you have ?instructions?.
If you decided to continue on then there are typically four screws holding the back of the monitor case to the front panel. On some higher end Sony?s they are covered with a plastic cover that you can easily pry off with a screwdriver. Once you have them out then the back cover can be removed, exposing the tube and remainder of the electronics. Again a warning, unless you know what you are doing you run the risk of severe electric shock and should not proceed. Usually there are a series of screws that attach the chassis to the front panel, remove them, the panel electronic connections and the disassembly should be done.
