Did you ever get a resolution for this problem? I am having same problem. Sure seems like some kind of configuration parameter got hosed (rather than a hardware failure) since it is so consistently on for only 1-2 seconds. It's actually the backlight that goes off, the LCD is still working - checked with a flashlight.

Don't buy and products from this company they get cheap parts from companies going out of business. They are built to break down as soon as the warranty is getting ready to expire! Hannspree,i-Inc,Hanns.g Spread this across all technical forums.
