Question about Sharp AL 800 Copier

1 Answer

Code L 100

My sharp AL-800 makes a noise and comes up with a L100 code. I think it's the scanner. Is there a lock I might have engaged?

Actually it turned out to be a switch on the back of the machine. Thanks.

An L100 would cause that error code. there is a scanner lock located to the left of the machine.

The scanner does not move,,,just makes an odd noise

There is usually a mechanical 'scanner lock' on th left-hand side of the machine, probably a sliding catch. Make sure that this has not been set to 'locked'. It is possible that this catch has been engaged when the machine has been moved or accidently by hand when copying.

This catch can sometimes be located on the underside of the scanner unit - ie where the paper comes out.

Hope this helps.

Error code on display, L1 or 1L flashing. What is

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

My boss has a Sharp AL-1655CS Copy Machine and it makes this awful, screatching noise when I try to copy anything. Now the System Error Code L1-00 shows up. Not sure what to do.

Your problem on scanner unite.May be your copier is now lock position.
Solve:Unlock position.Left side under copy Board. Then solve your problem.Or study your copier user manual.

Blinking letter L

The scanner probably got locked. If you reach up under the scanner in the cavity where the copies come out, there is the locking mechanism. turn it 90 degrees to unlock it. turn the copier off and then back on to clear the code.

Sharps AL 1530CS flashing L service code and shuts down

You didn't mention the number or code or L code.
If its L1-00 its just only the scanner, it means the scanner is locked.

There is a crystal lock under the scanner and on the top of the exit tray. just rotate the lock, makes sure that the front of the lock is on the direction of the scanner(to the right).

Hope it helps...

Toner error message on copy machine

Is "CH" steady or flashing? If it's steady, the door is not shut properly.
If it's flashing, the machine doesn't detect the presence of the toner cartridge (defective toner cartridge). Try another toner cartridge (an empty cartridge will do).

To get the blue handle to stay locked sometimes takes fiddling with it when the cartridge is in.

This error is caused when the scanner glass is in the locked position. Make sure it is unlocked underneath the scanner on the left side.

If you look into the scanner is the ribbon cable tangled up or frayed?
