My printer worked just fine with my XP laptop. I got a new laptop with Vista, downloaded the newest printer drivers and the problem is.... It prints a gray background for every page in addition to what it's supposed to print. I can't do a diagnostic because the install discs are for XP.
The gray background is ruining everything. PLS HELP.
The problem cannot BE solved. It's yet ANOTHER Vista screw-up. Original Problem: "No matter what I try - every page from Jarte prints out with an UNWANTED gray background. This does not always happen when I print from the web, make copies or print from Microsoft Word. I ran diagnostics on my printer HP PSC1510 and it's fine. Test pages print ok, too. Please help - I had Jarte on my last laptop (Windows XP), it worked very well and I liked it much better than MS Word." I emailed Jarte Tech support and got the following answer: "The problem you encountered is a bug in Windows Vista. You will see the
same problem when using WordPad on Windows Vista. As you have noticed,
not all programs are affected by the bug. The problem is occurring
because you are using a Windows color scheme that uses a gray
background color for text windows. Unfortunately, the only work around
is to specify white as the background color to use for text windows.
Hopefully, Microsoft will correct the problem in a future Windows Vista
service pack."

Initally the print was light perhaps as there had not been much use; a test page occurred because I tried turning it off and on. The color cartridge had spewn green ink so I removed it; it now leaks ink from the bottom. Before that the check paper etc light was blinking along with the black/color lights. The paper continues to feed but now there isn't even a faint print.
