Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

1 Answer

Not recognizing ip address

My computer will only recognize numerical ip addresses. You have to type 209.131.36.158 for yahoo. This really doesn't do anything because to go any further you need another ip address.

Where can ip address for my acer one aspire netbook

  • Go to the Start menu, go to Run, and type "CMD" in the dialog box (without the quotes.)

  • jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep2 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a01/vq/ee/computer-ip-address-windows-1.2-800X800.jpg'); });

Now you should see a dark (DOS) window that looks just like the picture on the left of this article step.

Without the quotes, type "IPCONFIG" and press ENTER.

Now you should see some network information, along with the IP ADDRESS of your computer listed.

My acer aspire 5630 will no make the connection to the internet using the wireless. if i hook it up hard wired it works fine. I also tried a USB wireless but it would not make the connection that way...

Try to release and renew the IP address:
    1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.

    2. Click Run... on this menu.

    3. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.

    4. Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).

    5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.

    6. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
    Tips:
    1. If it is not necessary to view the current IP addresses on a computer, simply type 'ipconfig /release' or 'ipconfig /renew' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears in Step 3.

    2. To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different location, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP address. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network connectivity automatically.

My wireless lan button is in the on position, however, the computer will not connect with my router. Is there another function that needs to be turned on for the computer to recognize a network?

If you have trouble then you can talk to you ISP to help reestablish your modem connection and functions to the internet, thats what you already paid for by connecting with their service
no function ??? no payment ??? simple

    Networking is lots of fun,
Firstly You have to be logged in as an Administrator
but before it will work the machine needs to have the same comon group ip settings for the function to work,

run your network wizard to establish this and follow the prompts and at the end of the wizard the units will see each other

the router ip address may be set to 192.168.0.1
and every other device may have addresss between
192.168.0.2 thru to 200 but not the router address which is dedicated to the router from manufacture,

Also the subnet mask settings 255.255.255.0 will allow access to each device on your network ie printers and other computers too (providing you give them permission to be on your network)

to find your ip address you have to go into the adaptor setting then properties when you set up the connection to your router.

    or

you can use CMD prompt to find out all your IP settings on you network,ie,XP or Vista

    Go to start
In the search bar (VISTA & XP)
    type in CMD

This will open the adaptors settings mode
then type in IPCONFIG and press enter.
This will show you the IP address of your machine

To find out the address of the other devices on your network,
    type in IPCONFIG/ALL

NOTE - depending on the type of modem ,
the settings addresss may differ slightly but the basic set procedures remain the same,

    Hope this helps Misterdj

I'm having trouble getting a wireless internet connection. When I boot up my laptop the router does not recognize the laptop I.P. address and won't establish a connection. How do I fix this problem?

    1. make sure you have a DHCP server that can assign the IP addreses, Routers usually come with one...so make sure it is configured to lease addresses 2. Make sure your computer does not have a manually assigned IP, and that it automatically receives one from the Router...

Our base computer is working with internet. But

Your router may have not reset its IP address properly. Unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in to obtain the correct IP address. If that doesn't do it for your connectivity you will need to go to the command prompt and type ipconfig /renew to obtain a new IP address on the wireless computer.
