I have not had any problems with my Nano until today. It will not turn on, at all. I plugged it into my computer and Itunes doesn't acknowledge it's even plugged in. It will do absolutely nothing. I've had it for about 6 months.

Plug the iPod touch into the computer with the USB Dock connector. Once it is connected to the computer turn off the iPod touch by holding the power button down on the top of the device until you see the "Slide to Power Off" on the screen. Power Off the Device. Once the device is off (and still plugged in) hold down the home button and keep holding it while pressing the power button to turn on the device. Continue holding the home button until you see the screen on the iPod Touch Say "Connect to iTunes" at which point you should launch iTunes on your PC/Mac if it has not already loaded.
Do you have iTunes installed on your computer? download it here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Once you have it installed, plug your iPod into your computer and iTunes will guide you through the set up process for you iPod.
Hope this helps!
It probably hangs on you, right? I get that problem on my silver 3rd gen nano when i jog. What i do is press the menu button and the middle circle button at the same time, and it'll restart the whole thing. Make sure you unlock it (bottom next to charger port, make sure it's white, not red) first. You'll see the apple screen as it starts back up and it'll go to the main menu. I run a lot so maybe it got jarred or something on mine. I hope that's all it is, or it might be a static problem. That I'm not helpful with. :| Good luck.
OH and it won't delete your songs so no worries on that.
are you using the same windows account / itunes as your wife? if so her ipod may be primary...if you & wife have different windows accounts....you can bring up itunes set up your very own (you will be able to add/delete all the songs you want) hope this works out for you
