Ice maker water from the ice maker will splash back and build up ice behind the metal panel. after a while the ice will build up and stop the fan. I then have to open the unit up and clear the ice. If I keep the ice maker turned off i will never have a problem

I don't know if this is the same problem butfor the past week we notice the frig side was freezing the food. So we turned off the frig, thinking there was some ice build up somewhere. Fixed the problem but now we have water on the frig shelves. Then we noticed that if you try to get water, then water would spray out from the filter. So we stopped using that feature. Now I noticed that the 'wall' that divides the frig from the freezer is hot. What do i do now???

Is the ice make over filling ( you can adjust the amount of time it will fill the timming screw is under the head cover)or just splashing over .. position the fill tube lower in the water catch.. if you can't reposition it I tape it in with a plastic tape.

MSW4u.
the water filter may be in misaligned I would remove and replace try to get a better seal. the wall between the frig and freezer has a heater in it to keep it from frosting.. that is normal.

hope it helps let me know

We have a puttering noise every 2 months or so, and I have to defrost the freezer to get the ice off the fan. We have had the icemaker replaced under warranty, but it didn't stop the problem, it

it is possible there is a bit of splashing and drops of water fall on the light cover during fillup of the ice maker make sure the hose that leads in the ice maker is positioned correctly to prevent water splashes. Or lower the water pressure to the hose of the ice maker. Good luck.

Ice maker is splashing water all over back of freezer and it builds up til the fan starts to make noise if I turn it off and defrost the ice it will start up noise free til the ice builds again.

What is the model number of your unit? When the ice builds up, does the ice just build up where it is splashing or is the ice also building up behind the back wall of the freezer?

Thank you! Richard

Loud humming noise coming from freezer

I believe what is happening, is your Evap fan has some build-up of ice on it. The reason it stops when you open the door, is the Evap fan cuts off. The Evap fan starts back up when the door is closed. What you'll need to do, is open the freezer door, and remove the back panel of the freezer. This takes some 1/4 inch screws and a couple Phillips I believe. Once you get the panel off you'll be able to see if there is any ice build-up on the Evap fan. If need, be take a hair-dryer on medium or low, and melt the ice off of it. This should solve your problem.

Ice build up on bottom of freezer. Water leaks out of freezer possibly from melting. Water leaks onto floor of kitchen.

Your problem is possibly one of two things. The ice maker is leaking or the defrost tray behind the rear panel inside freezer back wall is clogged with ice or something else. If you know its not the ice maker unplug the refrigerator and remove the back panel to see if the drain is blocked there, Let me know, Sea Breeze

I also had a loud fan and it was caused by ice build-up on the fan in the back of the freezer. From inside the freezer, I removed the plastic grill that covers the fan (I think I also had to remove the side rails and ice maker) then just let the fan defrost in the sink. Made sure it was nice and dry before putting it back in or else ice would just form again. I also took a sheet of plastic and put it between the ice maker and fan grill to stop water from dripping onto the fan and haven't had a noisy fan since. I just need to remove the ice build-up from on top of the plastic sheet every now and then, but that's much easy than taking everything apart to get to the fan.

Ice build up on fan

problem is most likely caused by water overflowing from ice tray and then freezing to motor, hold light switch in and see what happens when tray fills up. Regards Advisor
