Please check your cables and their connections. Reconnect the parallel or USB cable to the computer and to the printer. Make sure there is a direct connection, with no scanners, switchboxes, or hubs inline. Other devices can sometimes cause communication problems between the computer and printer. Try the steps provided on link below. http://bitly.com/pDka5q

You did a nice job trying out other ways to install the printer successfully. However, it's weird that 3 computers are not recognizing the USB connection. Make sure that the USB cable is plugged in correctly (in the right position) in the USB port of the printer.
Next, use the correct driver that is compatible with your computer's operating system. You may need to uninstall the existing software before reinstalling the new one. Instructions on how to uninstall the Lexmark software available at http://bit.ly/8ZH59T. Then, you can download the drivers at:
If problem continues, contact Lexmark technical support.

I'm having issues getting the lexmark z25 drivers for windows 7

There is no driver for windows 7, in fact, they don't even have a vista driver for this printer.

If you absolutely must use this printer under windows 7, you could use VirtualBox (virtualbox.org), to create a virtual computer, install XP in the virtual computer, then redirect the usb or lpt port to the virtual computer. Then you'd have to save the document to a shared folder, open the document in the virtual XP, and print. Even sharing the printer over the virtual network (or off a real xp machine and real network) won't work, since win7 doesn't know how to 'speak' Z25 'language'.

Frankly, it's a LOT easier, and really, when you consider your time, cheaper to buy a new printer that has a windows 7 driver.

Persistent "network host busy" error

After working with Lexmark tech support (which is excellent, by the way), it became clear that the problem is with my network (Airport/Time Capsule) and not the printer. (The printer works when plugged directly into my computer.)

I have Lexmark printer X4850 that will not communicate with computer. I have done all the things that your guys have told me and nothing worked. Have down loaded drivers, uninstalled reinstalled printer do...

This printer can print wirelessly across a network, and/or across a USB cable to one printer. The printer is set up for wireless use by connecting it to a computer with USB, and after it is set up you SHOULD be able to access it across your wireless router. If you look at items on the router, you will see this printer there too, with its own IP address. When you set the printer up in Windows, set it up as though it is a network printer. Looking under Ports, making sure that the correct item is checkmarked.

XP refuses to restart after installing printer

It’s not uncommon for software to mess up during installation.
Or even have a bad CD. (Please make sure you're windows XP software is up to date, run windows update service).
Since you are able to get into windows, open control panel, open add/remove programs & uninstall the Lexmark printer software. After uninstall restart the PC. Power on the printer before windows loads. See if windows runs with the printer connected & powered on. Less Its driver software. Windows should see the printer & ask for the software. (If so, it may be corrupted software). Go to Lexmark for driver software & download it.

Try reinstalling using the online driver software for the X3550 printer. If it still stops you're windows, I would suggest replacing the USB cable. If replacing the cable does not help & windows does not load, there could be something wrong with the printer.
If this is a new printer you should contact Lexmark.

Lexmark will suggest all of the above. You'll be three steps ahead of support. Lastly, I have come across an issue from time to time installing printers software into Windows XP systems.
(It matters not the printer model). Windows was missing basic printer files needed to operate any given printer. The fix for those systems was a complete fresh install of windows. Its suggested to never use a copied windows CD. It matters.

Good Luck electrics!
If I can help you further, feel free to post.
There is rarely 1 way to fix every thing.
