A little program called TrueCrypt can make a flash drive/portable hard drive set up for password protection.
Makers site->http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/517/cpsid_51791.html
Keep in mind that this is not the only one out there, but this is the easiest to set up.
Good luck and do not forget to rate me :)

I want to add a password to one that's already installed.

Click start click on computer to open you should your drives

C: usually your hard drive D: or E: your cd/dvd drives if you have 2 and your usb drive possibly E:or F:

Click on your usb drive right click in it select new folder option you can name it

Then put all files or data you want to password protect

Right click on the folder select properties then click sharing tab tick in make this folder private box

Another message might appear you do not have a password on this account click yes

User and password account will open for you to put in place a password

This might vary depending on your operating system in XP

Select properties then security tab at learn about access controls at the bottom of the box

Also another option to change permissions click edit

Then click deny then click apply in W7

Hope this helps

I was copying a file from my WD My Passort Essential 750gb drive to my computer last night when suddenly i heard what sounded like a scraping sound, i unplugged the HD and tried hooking it back up but NONE...

Noise from the hard Disk not a very good Sign.

Try the device on a friends or a relatives PC. if you have the same result , you might be having a defective HDD. best would be to take it to a local repair shop for recovery of DATA. ( if you have warranty now would be a good time to use it)

Here you can download a FREE Excel add-in that removes/cracks sheet and workbook password protection in Excel®.
NB! This program can't remove file protection, i.e. if you are unable to open the file, this program won't help you. You could try Excel Key to remove file protection. If you need to crack the VBA-password try this one.
This Excel add-in (password.xla) works fine in Excel 5.0 and above (including Excel 2000, XP and 2003).
This program will remove passwords of any length, also passwords containing special characters.
