Looks like you just have to take off the outer cover. From the parts diagram I looked at this looks like a counter top unit. If so, unplug the unit and then remove the outer cover and then locate the lamp and replace it. Looks pretty easy to get to.

SOURCE: Where is the light bulb in an old Sharp Carousel Microwave?

Microwave_svc's site is awesome! I was able to get all the help I needed for a similar Sharp Carousel microwave. My bulb was simply loose in the socket base causing intermittent bulb lighting. Microwave_svc's helpful links got me to the service manual and, along with a nice set of "tamper-proof" screw compatible TORX bits I bought at HarborFreight, I was easily able to get cover off, remove bulb socket, tighten bulb, re-install bulb socket, button unit back up, and, voila, the light now works without intermittent blinking. Many thanks to guru microwave_svc!!!!!!!

Chances are you have a shorted high voltage rectifier, which is pretty easy and inexpensive to replace, or a shorted magnetron, which is more work and money.

We have the service / repair manuals for this model and have uploaded them to our site here and here to help you.

They will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.

Most computers will open these documents automatically, but you may need the free Adobe Reader.

Here are some links you can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

There is a possibility that the light relay is stuck on. Sometimes a sharp tap on the relay will fix it. If not the control board will need replacing.

I would say you have blown a fuse on the unit. As you now have found out, that's one of the reasons why you unplug any electrical equipment before working on them. You will have to take the outer cover off the microwave and locate where the fuse is. It is most likely on the back of the main PCB or possibly inside a plastic sleeve or mounting near where the cord enters the unit.

Light doesn't go off and microwave doesn't work

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
  2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
  3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
  4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.

On most recent Sharp microwaves, the fuse only interrupts main power, so if the fuse is blown, it will be totally dead.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes then try it.

Then chances are you have a failed microwave display. Unless this is an over the range, touch screen, or convection type, it's probably not worth repair, but you can get more information on such repairs here.

Re: Sharp carousel microwave oven minute display light out

    Hello there
To replace the light you will first have to remove the outer shell.
    To do this
(1). Remove all of the screws on the back of the microwave that hold on the shell
    (2) Remove the screws that are on the bottom.

    (3) now the shell should slide off towards the back of the microvave.
Note : this may take a little bit of pressure to get it off ok?

    (4) Once the cover is off look towards the fromt of the microwave and
you will see the bulb. now just replace the bulb and reinsert the cover and the screws and you are all done ok? pretty easy ha/
    best regards michael

Light, turntable and fan don't work

Possibly the light bulb has blown, which has blown on a track on the board which has taken out the turntable motor and the fan. Also, there could be a problem with the door switch.
