Technically you add not change toner.

open front door, swing out big black unit, ( toner hopper)
place toner on top of unit with clear plastic piece of toner sticking out, pull plastic tab all the way. When pastic pieace comes off leave for a couple of seconds then push back the black cover of the hopper( came out when pulled plastic piece)

I need to change the toner cartridge on a older copier, a Canon 3300i. i can't figure out how to remove the old toner cartridge.

  • Unplug the unit from the source of electricity. Open the front cover located on the face of the unit.

  • Locate the blue lever in front of the toner cartridge. You will be able to see it clearly when you look through the opening originally covered by the front cover.
  • Pull the blue lever down gently. Do not use force. It is easy to manipulate and just needs a gentle pull.4

  • Look for the blue handle that is on the toner box. Grasp the handle firmly and pull it. The toner box will move toward you. Remove the toner box until it cannot go any farther. The handle is easy to manipulate, so do not tug at it, just pull it gently.
If you will need more help you can download the service manual for ir 3300i is always good to have a service manual you can download it from the below link:

My toner was low, so I replaced printed one page and now won't copy or print (cannon multipass mp730)

If you changed the toner cartridge before the previous one was completely empty, it is possible the machine simply did not reset.

Turn the power off and take the new toner cartridge out. Turn the power back on and wait for a message telling you there is no toner.
When you get the no toner message re-insert the new toner cartridge.

If this does not clear the message, you will need to find the button to press to manually reset the toner cartridge from Canon.

Scanner is just an 'input' device and no toner is required. You need toner/cartridge only for printers/plotter (output devices).
