Programs crash with no explanation.

First I would Click Start/Programs/Accessories and you are looking for the RUN command. Sometimes depending on your operating system you will see it as soon as you hit Start or Programs or All Programs. Once you get the run commad open type in "msconfig.exe" and click ok. This is the system's configuration window, Click the Tab that says Startup. The only two columns you are concerned with is the Startup Item column and the Command column. You can expand those two columns by placing your mouse pointer between two columnar headings and it will turn into a + sign so you can drag the column to see more of it. Notice that all the items have a check mark beside it under the Startup Item column. That check mark means that this application will run everytime you start your computer. Now look for items that have a check mark beside them but there is nothing under the command column or location column. If you see that remove the check mark from the item, it's a virus that's trying to hide. Also look for Startup Items that have the command of: c:\Documents and Setting\Your Userid Account Name\Local Settings\Application Data\xxxxxxx . If after application data you don't see some recognizable program then remove the check mark. Most virus attach itself to a user account under the local settings and application data area. Also if you see a startup item "dumprep 0-k" or similar, remove the check mark from it. *** Don't worry about if you remove a check mark from something you are unsure of, you can always go back in and place the check mark on it. When done click Ok and select the option to Exit Without Restart. This simply stops the virus from being able to get started when you boot your computer. You will actually have to kill it with a virus protection scan in the next steps.

Now you can then run your virus protection scans to make sure you don't have a virus causing the problem. I would take the time to run Spybot Search & Destroy and also I would Run AVG afterwards. In fact after spybot search and destroy finishes, I would turn my computer off, then turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the SAFE MODE option. Select Safe Mode and let your system boot up then run AVG in Safe Mode. AVG running in safe mode will not require any intervention from you once it gets started. However it will look a little different to you because the normal GUI Interface will not be there, instead you will have a Black DOS type window running will white letters scrolling as it scans. 99% of the viruses require the Internet Connection to function. As long as the internet connection is active the virus can function, hide and do all sorts of things. Remember you got the virus by some process of being on the internet. SAFE MODE disables the Internet so the virus cannot function or hide. Let AVG seek it out and kill it in SAFE MODE.

Need help with windows internet explorer xp browserit is slow booting up and wnen the site comes up you con do only one or two applications and then it freezes. is this a browser or services problem o...

FIRST TRY RESTORING DEFAULT SETTINGS IN THE BROWSER.
1: Open up the internet window, by clicking on the "blue e" on your desktop, or by going to the Start Menu, All programs, internet Explorer
  • Step 3restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.3-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep3 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a02/03/or/restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.3-800X800.jpg'); }); From the Start Menu If the "blue E" is not in fact on your desktop then refer to the picture in this step.
  • Step 4restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.4-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep4 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a02/03/or/restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.4-800X800.jpg'); }); Menu Bar 2: Once the internet is open, you will then want to go to the "Tools" Menu, in the internet window. If you are using internet explorer 7 the tools menu is on what is called the Menu bar, and this menu bar generally is in the upper left hand corner.

    Picture is attached.
  • Step 5restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.5-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep5 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a02/03/or/restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.5-800X800.jpg'); }); Internet options selection 3: Once you click the Tools Menu, then select, internet options. Image below attached, then click on internet options to go into the internet options dialog box.
  • Step 6restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.6-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a02/03/or/restore-internet-explorer-default-settings-1.6-800X800.jpg'); }); Advanced Tab 4: Once you have selected the internet options click on the advanced tab all the way to the right, picture attached. Once you have selected, advanced at the bottom right there is an option there to RESET, this will restore the default settings, of your internet explorer Browser.
  • Step 7 5: Reboot machine.
  • IF THAT DOES NOT FIX IT THEN YOU MIGHT TRY SOME FREE DOWNLOADS TO CHECK FOR VIRUSES. MALWARE OR SPYWARE THREE OF MY FAVORITES ARE FREE
    1. AVG Anti-Virus
    http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-free-antivirus
    2. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
    3. Spybot-Search & Destroy
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
BE CAREFULL WITH THE MALWAREBYTES AND SPYBOT PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS AND JUST USE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS WHEN INSTALLING THEN JUST RUN THE PROGRAMS AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO AFTER THAT.

The computer freezes when it boots?

If so try to download spyware Terminator and Malwarebytes and run a full scan with both programs,
When you go the malwarebytes page download the free trial version. If your computer wont stay running long enough to do this try to boot in safe mode by pressing F8 or F10 before you see the windows loading screen

If you are having problems installing security software, and have 1500 documented problems, you may have a severe MALWARE infection. MALWARE (Virus, Spyware, adware etc.) often attack, disable or prevent the installation of security software.

Depending on the severity and how deeply imbedded the walware infection is determines the final resolve. UNfortunately, the final answer often is a complete reformat and reinstall of the operating system.

    Things you can try:

If you can, download and run SPYBOT Search and Destroy from www.download.com

Other applications you may try to attack the problem are:

    AVG antivirus from free.avg.com
ccleaner and Smitfraud fix from http://www.gur.in/download/

Often, it is just too much work to get rid of a massive infection and mort effective to format and start with a clean drive and install the security software before re-connecting to the internet.
