I must have pressed something wrong because I used to be able to record Programs 1,2,3,4,5, and now it will not record and brings up 1,2,4,7,8,AV1, AV2, AV3. I have spent the last hour trying to make sense of the SD-37VBSB user's guide and probably made it worse, but I am an old lady not very conversant with modern technology. Can you offer halp, please.

Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc.

The VCR won't record from a digital terminal.Connection Made according to instructions. Both VCR &digital terminal on channel 03.If the digital terminal is by-passed the recorder works fine.

use scart lead put one end into the digital ( BOX or TV ) out put ( AV1 or AV2) and the other into (AV1) on vcr then change the mode so AV1 shows on vcr display
you can do this by pressing button on remote marked with ( input / source or a picture with a arrow pointing into a tv
you can only record the station that the digital box or tv is on if you turn over vcr will record that station

I connect my two vcrs and i press record but then when i push play on the recored tape its just black

Are you connecting via scart? If so the VCR doing the recording has to be set to Line 1 or AV1 this can be done on the remote by selecting the source button or using the channel up and down buttons in the display the channels 1,2,3 etc will go to L1 or AV1 you should then be cable to copy assuming the video is copyright free if not Macrovision protection will prevent copying.

CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO RECORD OFF AN 'AV' SETTING

The method is the same as for TV channels; select the input (i.e. view the desired channel), then press the record button. AV1 and AV2 usually are at the end of the channel list, and can be found by pressing the channel UP or DOWN buttons.
