It should still be covered under the warranty.

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

circuit board controling temp to both fridge and freezer is out. Could have been fried by an electrical surge or just a badcircuit board.

SOURCE: de icing the freezer in a Samsung SW 2630WW

Take all of the shelves out of the freezer side. Take to Philips screws for backing and 4 philips screws from vent cover just above cover. unplug, Use a hair blow dryer and melt it. Put it back together and there you go. Whole operation from start to finish is about 15 minutes.

My alarm for "open door" is going off non stop for

For most Samsung and Samsung clones The switch for the light also tells the cpu the door is open, some door switches are two in one so it is possible the light could go out if you closed the door and the switch could still be bad. an easy test would be to remove the switch (with the fridge Unplugged ) and test. the two switches should show closed in one direction and open in the other with one switch on and the other off on many models terminals 1&2 being light and 3&4 bell with no connection between the two switches for most models PS. if the switch is good and good for the 4 terminal ones i would be looking at a bad control board or cold solder joints at plug pins on the board. for modes with a hi low display screen it may also stay in hi. and yes i guess the wires could have gone bad and could be open but that's a very long shot

Digital display on LG fridge just keeps cycling options. Showed "ER" error. Any ideas on how to get it to stop? The freezer is still cold but the refrigertor isn't cold at all

Hello sewing6
Welcome,

You said,

Try turning the fridge and the freezer off at the controls.
Then turning off the breaker for the fridge for 5 minutes .
then turn the breaker back on and restart the fridge and freezer!
This should reset the system and solve your problem.
let me know how it goes.

Thank You,
Huuum
Please remember to leave a rating! Hopefully a "solved "one.
