Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook
Him My zd8000 has the fan on the entire time. Very noisy and then it automatically shuts down the computer. (like a light bulb switches off). It's really frustrating as I lose all the work I am doing and I never know when it is going to switch off.
Any suggestions? Is it a bug or is it overheating?
I agree - it's overheating. I had the same problem and still do if I'm not careful! Like it or not, this laptop runs hot. I put small wood blocks under the two back corners raising the back of the laptop about 3/4" higher. This allows for additional ventilation. I also discovered that there needs to be adequate room behind the laptop. If something large is too close, the warm air pushed out of the laptop will be pulled back in further raising the internal temperature causing it to overheat.

Sound like it is overheating. my suggestion would be to use a laptop cooling mat(found at bestbuy radioshak or circuit city)
