The router is most likely fried.

you could be in luck though. just get another power cable and see if that works.

If you have a another power adapter may same type and brand or any other brand with the same specs you can try that. If the device still wont power on. there is nothing we can do about it. its already faulty.

Hi, I'm using a Belkin N1 wireless router. I mostly have a stable internet connection, but once in a while the "wireless" icon start blinking orange. What is this? My internet some times get...

if the wireless light is lit up in red it says "someone is trying to connect to your network using wrong password"
Sometimes if any of your devices are not compatible with the security enabled in the router then the light will lit up in red. click here to know more about security types of belkin router
routers has to be turned off atleast 2 hours per day for it to work properly... so better turn off the router when not in use, this will clear the routing table of your router and will make the router to work as a fresh router everyday, so you wont face any speed problems.

My belkin N1 router when i plug it in it just flashes the security light and wont connect to the internet

You will need to double-check your security settings. Apparently, the modem is trying to tell you there's a problem regarding this.
The easiest way to be able to access the router settings in this case, will be to provide a direct connection between your PC and the Belkin router (using a network cable) and then type in that address.
If the address still doesn't work, double check the router's IP address by opening the Command Prompt (it's under Programs -> Accessories) and typing in "ipconfig", then hitting Enter. The IP-address you're looking for is listed under "default gateway".

(Also, make sure your computer isn't using a fixed IP, set it up so it's dynamically assigned an address by the Belkin router.)

1. Step 1 Position your Belkin wireless G router.
Place your wireless G router in a wide open and central location. Don't connect the power plug into the router, yet. Make sure your computer is turned off.

2. Step 2 Connect all the devices.
Find the Ethernet cable that connects your PC to the modem. Unplug the Ethernet cable from your PC and insert it into the wireless G router's WAN port. You should have an additional Ethernet cable that came with your router. Take this cable and plug one end into one of the LAN ports on the router. Then connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.

3. Step 3 Turn on your modem, router, and PC.
Plug the power plug adapter into the modem. Turn on the modem. It'll take approximately 30 seconds for the modem to boot up. Connect the power plug adapter to the router and the other end into a power strip or outlet. Like the modem, it'll take about 30 seconds for the router to boot. Turn on your PC.

4. Step 4 Verify lights are on for your devices.
Make sure the following lights are on for your router: power, WAN, and LAN light. If you don't see any of them lit, confirm these devices are turned on. Make sure the Ethernet cable connections are installed correctly.
Step 5 Install and configure software.
Use the setup wizard application to configure your Belkin wireless G router. Set up features, such as creating your password and setting up your time zone. Continue to follow the setup wizard so you can configure ?other settings

I have a normal small phone connection but the router takes a large er pin connector. what can I do

Ahh, now I understand. Somewhere in the instructions, you need to turn your Belkin into a Wireless Access Point. The Netgear is your MODEM and router. It's the interface to your DSL line. Since it already has a router, the only thing you gain from the Belkin is wireless access.

There shoud be instructions to either turn off the router in the Netgear, or convert the Belkin to a WAP. I'd do the Belkin.

You will have to plug (hard wire) directly into the wireless router and get into it with a 192.168.xxxx to look at your wep or wpa settings. Your key or passphrase will be in the routers setting. You may also ask the person who owns the router what the key is. If you don't have permission to use the wireless you probably wont ever get on unless your my son's who can crack any encryption key.

Networking

You actually have a couple of issues here. Fix these in this order. 1.) Login to router and turn off wireless (if you're not wanting to use wireless) 2.) Connect the ADSL modem CAT5 port to the WAN port of the Belkin router. 3.) Login to router and turn on NAT and make sure DHCP is enabled. 4.) On your Windows machine turn on DHCP under the network settings. This should allow your connection to be setup automatically and stop wireless access on the Belkin router. Let me know if you need more help. JC
