Cancel printing and turn the printer off and then back on
If this doesn’t clear the error, see the printer manual for more detail.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
All I ask is please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. A sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer
will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, Moving the print head assembly
will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, screws, cookie crumbs, cake, toast you get the idea. Get yourself a can of compressed air and blow the paper roller out, also a slightly damp paper towel and gently clean off the paper feeding rollers.
Anywho this should fix you up. good luck, please post rating, thank you kindly
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

This might have something to do with canon's absurd print cartridge limitation agreement.... where the print cartridge will only print for a certain limit and then locks

Had this error and did the following to solve the problem.
Turn the printer off.
Open the top cover and move the printer cartridge to the left.
On the right you can see a white part.
Press it down.
Turn the printer on.
if that doesnt help then there its better to call canon...
thank you have a nice day
