I am trying to change the sterio head unit to an aftermarket unit. I have the dashboard mostly apart, but I cant figure out how to get the pannel covering the radio off. There is just one more point to disconnect and I am baffled. It is the connect point around the cigarette lighter, the rest of the panel is freed.

Take the lighter out. Stick your finger in there to hold it still, and unscrew the part behind the face plate.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help! Any suggestions for removing a slightly rusted lighter socket? lol."

Aftermarket speakers stoped working

Can a head phone be plug into the unit and if so - can you hear sound over the head phone. Also first look if nothing is stuck in the head phone jack (where it is plugged in as kids tend to stuff small objects into it). If sound can be heard over the head phones the unit is ok. The problem then lies with in the speaker output circuitry. The speaker output wiring has most of the time a inbuilt fuse that protects the circuitry when the speaker wires are shorted out when power (volume) is on. The unit has to be opened to replace it by a knowledgeable person.

I need to remove terios 2012 dashboard to change radio unit

Information is not yet available to the aftermarket for vehicles that were built in the 2012 model year. You will either have to get that information from the dealer, or figure it out yourself.

I'm trying hook up an aftermarket car stereo and i cant figure out where to hook the orange and orange/orange and white wire. I need the factory wire diagram

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/RonJ_HCF/picture_2980.jpg

The picture says it is for 1999-2000 models, but also works for 1998.

Honda does not have orange wires, i checked a Pioneer and it doesn't either. Could it be that the yellow wires look orangeish?

Be careful, because many aftermarket units have 3 power wires: Unswitched (memory cable), switched (power cable) and dimmed (match the dashboard illumination intensity). Also, most aftermarket units have a power out, to activate the power antenna. Connecting this cable in the wrong position will probably lead to a serious short.

Bmw e36 speakers do not work

hi, the speakers dont have fuses, they run directly from the head unit, sounds like the head unit has a blown output, or the speaker has just given up, you can buy the removal keys from ebay, or most auto shops,( very cheap )..remove the unit, and try the speaker that is working on the wires of the speaker that isnt, this will tell you if its the speaker, or the unit
