I have a Meade Nightview , when powered up , the screen shows only gray. IR works fine, but i get nothing on the screen at all. Meade tells me that they no longer service these scopes. I need a possible solution or a repairman. Please help. Thanks, Stan

It sounds to me like you have a bad main board.

But it you may be better of by buying new TV
those boards run over $300.00.
You know the prices of a new TV's !!

Vizio have a parts distributor- Vance Baldwin you may give them a call, or call Vizio to find out if they have anybody else.

I also had an LG M197WDP tv/Monitor with the same problem. It comes straight on when plugged in, but with the blank screen and scrolling version number across the top.
The solution:
1. Use the remote control (check batteries first)
2. Point at the working TV and press either MENU or EXIT
3. Static should be seen on the screen.
4. Switch to standby using the remote, by preesing POWER button.
5. Switch back on using the POWER button.
All should then be working normally

These scopes have many bugs in the firmware and are not a mature technology. Some people have issues and some do not.

About the only thing you can try is to reload the firmware using the SC CARD method. Contact Meade or read the manual to learn how to upgrade the firmware using an SD flash memory card.

Other than that the scopes will need to be returned to Meade for repair.

You could have a broken clutch ?? -- see Jan's page on the LX90 for dis-assemble instructions.

Here we go. Sorry that you waited 7 months or maybe not. Here Meade's Instrment/Optics owner manual for your Meade NightView NV Monocular. If you have two eye pieces to look through and two optic lens on the other end then you have a binocular. Hello, sorry, it is a bad image intensifier tube. 90% of the troubles with these Russian manufactured tubes they are not manufactured very well. Poor quality control on many of their consumer goods...junk. GB,,,stewbison

I think you will find that one 9 volt battery would not last any time at all. the 6 AAs have a big capacity and that's why they use them, a little 9v battery is intended for low power equipment.
I see it is supplied with a 12v AC adaptor, if you connect a 12V battery via the adaptor socket you may get a longer run time if its a rechargable battery even better.

its likley to be a bad contact in the battery box thats stoping it working on internal batterys,,, try bending up the battery posts a little bit ,,but do this gently dont forse it

Sorry for late response -- I just found your posting.

You did not say which Meade telescope you have -- however-

There should be a light somewhere on the telescope that lights up when the power is on-- if this is not glowing-- double check your batteries-- better yet use an outside 12 volt power pack and the proper Meade cigarette lighter style plug.

No power --- nothing will work-- Meade has a customer service phone number here-- on their web site-
