Question about Miele KFN8762SDED Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Open Question

Belling Bottom Freezer / Model; BK3593 / Type; HZS 3366

Hi Philtac, when purchased the house we purchased the appliances and we were not provided with manuals etc. I have been trying to sort out what is the best setting for the fridge e.g. 0 to 7 and whether or not the -/0 switch should be at - or 0...

Also, the freezer seems to frost up fairly rapidly and I am not sure if it is a frost-free unit or not as I do not have a manual. I would 'assume' that it is as most freezers now a days are...aren't they?

I also have ice drops formed on the back wall of the refridgerator. I again am 'assuming' that the fridge is approx. 7.5 yrs old.

Many thanks,
Shelley

SOURCE: Back of Fridge icing up

If the fan is running you more than likely have a defrost problem.
look at the back wall of the freezer section if it is frosted up. it's not defrosting.
There three components in this system. The defrost heater, the defrost termination stat., and the defrost timer. Newer refrigerators do not have a timer per say it is build into a electronic board usually mounted on the back of the refrigerator under a metal plate. The termination stat is the cheapest part @ $ 25.00. The heater should run @ 50.00 to 70.00. The board could be as much as 200.00 or more. If the refrigerator is over 10 years old you may wish to look into getting a replacement. Appliances are designed to start failing after 10 years old.
My opinion.
If you unplug the refrigerator let it defrost then plug it back in. it will work properly about 3 days before it frosts back up.

SOURCE: freezer is icing up and

Hi miss_i2000

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber

Your question is: freezer is icing up and fridge temperature has risen to 10 from 5. Also alot of condensation in the fridge and the fan doesnt seem to be working in fridge. Correct temperature on freezer -18 but ice. new frost free fridge freezer bought 1.5 weeks ago

This is no problem for you. You are under warranty and as long as you have not tryed to repair it yourself you are completely covered. Look for the manufacturer's warranty phone number on the paper work that came with it or call the sales man, he will be happy to track that down for you because he wants repeat business.
If you bought it used the only answer is to return it. You could get a local pro to repair it at yuor own expense but I wouldn't recomend that for a frige only 1.5 weeks old!

Call Service. 1-800-999-1360 (US) or the Canadian number. Most likely the circulation fan and/or damper flap could be out of whack.

SOURCE: The Miele Fridge Freezer KFN8462S

Hi.

F2 indicates that there is a defrost problem. For this reason, if you turn off and defrost the fridge manually, the unit will work for a while after doing defrost.

You said that you replaced temperature sensor. What is called temperature sensor is different from the defrost thermostat, which is one of the parts involved in the fault.

If there is no defrost cycle, or if defrost is insufficient, problem is usually the defrost thermostat. The thermostat is located behind the freezer section rear wall, where the evaporator resides. To access it you need to remove frozen food and undo screws holding the back panel. The thermostat is a metal cylinder shaped object connected to two wires and clipped to the evaporator. The thermostat can be tested using a multimeter set on impedance. If reading impedance at room temp. on the thermostat contacts is infinity (circuit open),then the thermostat must be replaced. In the same way is tested the defrost heater. Check also that evaporator fan is starting.

If parts in the evaporator section are working, then the problem can be the defrost timer, which starts the defrost once every 8 hours.

Here how thermostat looks like. In same page read also the repair instructions from other users.

Regards.

Ginko.

Pizza maker BPZ500 used twice. Stored , now is tripping out the power board in our house when plugged in. Barely used. What can be done re replace, repair, refund ? Faulty electrics. Was a gift

If it is tripping the main rcd it indicates power is escaping from the circuit to ground but if it is tripping a micro circuit breaker (mcb) it indicates the appliance is consuming too much power, perhaps because of a short circuit.

Both conditions require attention - thorough investigation. Under the circumstances you described the first thing I thought of was it was perhaps subject to damp conditions or perhaps you made the mistake of washing the ceramic disc before you stored the appliance after the last usage. The disc is porous and would hold moisture.
If you suspect the problem could be moisture related the best thing would be to place the oven in a warm dry place with the lid open for a few weeks and try it again - you might be lucky.

As the item was a gift you have no contract with any retailer and therefore can't hold anyone responsible. Quite probably you don't have proof of purchase either which will be a complication for a warranty claim. If it is still covered by warranty perhaps the gifter will agree to sort it out for you or perhaps provide the proof of purchase so you can sort it for yourself..

The wiring and main components will be straightforward to check and your local white appliance engineer, electrician or skilled handyman will be able to do that for you.

Need to know how to light the pilot. This is a year old house & builder did not leave the manual

Hi Alice:

Don't know whereyou are, but with a 1 year old appliance, you should have the manual.
Your local authorithy (Building Official at City Hall) should be able to access your property file and give you the info you need to be able to contact the appliance supplier (or builder) so that you can get the proper manual.
Seriously, the Builder has a safety obligation to provide that information.

And, you as the purchaser, have a right to expect it.

Please contact your local authority.
Cheers,
Ted (Retired Building Official)

This is a link to the Sears parts website and they frequently will have manuals that you can download for different appliances. You will need the model number so that you can put it into their search engine. Hope this helps!

What temp should belling fridge freezer be set at. fan not coming on

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
