With any luck, all you did was blow the fuse on the hot wire.

Check that first.

Several DEH models have resets behind the face. Use a paper clip.

Hope that helps, good luck,

Mike

I hooked up my pioneer dehx8600bh car stereo everything works perfectly except when I turn my head lights on the stereo loses power and factory reset every thing

Not sure what kind of car you have but,,, just for the heck of it, when you turn on your lights , try turning your interior dimmer all the way up. If the radio works again, then you have it powered from the wrong wire in the dash. It needs to go to a constant hot (12V) and Accy/ignition (12V) and not to a lighting wire which would power the back lighting of a factory radio.

buy a digital volt meter and start checking fuses for the radio at fuse panel . if blow replace it . if not blown remove radio from dash check to see if radio is still grounded . if still grounded take the volt meter turn on to dc volts and take black test lead touch to your radios ground the touch the red test lead to the red with to see if you get 12 volt with car on if not need to find out why .. take to professsinal ..

you can also check the yellow wire on radio it should have 12 volts allways doesnt matter if car in off or running this saves memory for clock and station presets.

if every thing is test out right then you need to buy new radio ..

if you dont feel good about doing this yourself find a mecp car audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem maybe expensive but a good tech could find out problem with in the first 30 to 45 minutes it get 35.00 per hour to troubleshoot car audio system ...

I am installing this model, and a hot wire touched the case and the radio stopped working. Replaced the fuses and still nothing.it was working before this happend, what can I do to fix it?

if the fuse blown is located outside the radio..... check the supply voltage, there is two supply voltage, the yellow wire is hot at all time and the red is through the acc. if these two wires have power, inspect some parts inside radio,

Kenwood kdc-138, NO SOUND, CD PLAYER NO RESPONDING

First thing you need to do is make sure you dont have a short in the speaker wires.. if any one of them touches ground it kills the system.. then you have to remove all the wires and start over... disconnect the battery... remove all the speaker wires only and then turn it on and reset it... then again remove the battery from the car and install them all make sure nothing is touching then turn it back on and see if that works.. you can also test to make sure you speaker wires are good by using a 9v battery and touching positive and negative of each speaker to the positive and neg of the battery... JUST FOR A SECOND it will pop.. that means your wires are good and no shorted to that speaker.

1991 buick park avenue. new radio isnt wanting to power up (no power)

there is a wire on the back of your radio that is red and it has to be hoocked up along with the yellow and the black, you have to hook that red wire up to a power source as well that is the wire that turns the radio off and on with your key.

How to wire antenna for 1998 nissan maxima

kevinrose: are you installing a factory antenna or an aftermarket?
The factory antenna will get a constant power supply which is a pink or purple wire. This wire is hot whether the key is on or off.
The way the antenna is made to go up, is through a second power source which is black/red wire. When you turn the radio on, this wire goes hot when the ignition is switched in the accessory or on positions. When you turn the radio off or turn the ignition switch completely off, the antenna will completely retract. The circuit for the antenna is served with a 10 amp fuse which is located on the driver's side to the left of the steering column, The fuses should be labeled on the door you remove to access the panel.
CAUTION!!!! most aftermarket antennas DO NOT have the kind of connector that will all you to plug or easily connect the factory antenna cable to it. You wil have to make an adaptor.
So before taking things out of the packaging check this out or you will find your self with an antenna to sell.

sandman: Depending on the situation you are describing is the solution This is contingent on your having removed the old antenna and it's remains. Ideally you and one other person to assist would be best for this job. Have the radio turned on and feed the antenna mast cable in with the teeth facing the rear of the car. Push the cable down until it stops. At that point be prepared to feed the cable in as the motor draws it downward and be prepared to feed the mast it self into the antenna housing where it will continue to rectract until it stops nearly flush with the fender . At the time it stops, you will hear it going bump, bump, bump a number of times. This is normal. Once retracted, you can reinstall the retaining nut or collar which prevents the antenna from being pushed out of the housing. The collar has two small holes in the top which are for a special tool. A pair of snap ring pliers will work in their place.
If you have the remains of the antenna cable inside of the antenna assembly, unless you are somewhat skilled, it may be better to remove the antenna assembly and bring it to a shop for the to replace the mast.
If I can be of further assistance....let me know.
