My desk top system gets Off when I watch films only after the AMD processor is over heated.

i guess you mean the computer switches off when your watching films due to your AMD processor is overheating, if so best you order a replacement CPU Cooler usually around 10 pounds, just a matter of opening up the pc, removing the old cpu cooler by lifting the lever on it, and taking it off, remove the old thermal paste on the cpu and put new thermal paste on the cpu and attach the new cooler. also have a look at any other ways you can lower the temperature of the machine maybe thigns likes case fans etc.

Does not boot, no beep, no display, fans running on high speed

Try blowing the dust out of the inside, around the vents, around the fans and by the cpu and heat sink.

Also remove the fan as it sits on the cpu and heat sink. Then remove the heat sink that sits on the cpu, then remove the cpu by releasing the latch on the side of the bay it sits in (remember how the cpu goes back into the bay). Now clean off the old dried up thermal paste on top of the cpu and on the heat sink that sits on the cpu. Put the cpu back into the bay and secure the latch. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste to the CPU and Heat Sink. Put everything back together then reboot.

If the thermal paste has dried or is too thin to keep the unit cool it's like metal touching metal and shorts out the system so it can't boot.

Heatsink alert

OK, that means either your heatsink is bad or the Thermal Paste that goes on the heatsink and cpu has either dried up or is too think to keep the unit cool. It can overheat.

On a desktop it's easy to get to. Remove the power cord, remove the case and turn the computer on its side so you can see inside. The heat sink will have a fan on top of it. Remove the screws from the fan and unplug the fan, then remove the heatsink by lifting it out. Sometimes the CPU will come out with the heatsink. Take a small flat head screw driver and carefully pry the cpu from the heatsink if it's attached. The cpu has lots of little prongs or pins on it and it sits in a slot that will accomodate the pins. There is a latch that allows you to put the cpu into the slot that you lift up to place it back in, then close the latch one you have the cpu in place. Put a good coat of thermal paste on the cup and heat sink, put it all back together. If you still get the message then you will need to replace the heatsink.

Look on ebay by just putting in your brand and model of your computer followed by heat sink.

I have an x-box that is just under one year old. When it was switched on this week it failed to respond; when it powers up it just displays three red lights. Please advise.

"RROD" Reflow the motherboard,or send it in. RROD = bad connection under CPU or GPU in most cases.Causes; Overheat. It dries the thermal paste out and fails to transfer heat which in turn slowly fries the cold solder joints. I fix these consoles all day long, easy fix.

It restarts itself every after 15minutes

At this time you need to check first the CPU fan if it is spinning to prevent overheating. Some cause of this problem is the RAM check also the RAM or you may remove it and try to turn on if it will provide sound. But specifically this is a CPU problem you need to disassemble the CPU. If the CPU fan is not spinning and faulty already you need to replace it. When you reassemble the unit you need to put a thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink so that the heat from CPU will absorbed by the heat sink.

memory is the main problem if you have two in two slots remove the one which is away from processor if no results remove both , clean the pins well and re insert.one // if no display remove and put another one ..it has to work
if it doesnt then processor is heating up excessively because the cpu paste has dried up which is found between the cpu and heatsink fan

Hello

Regarding with this problem, when computer which is shutting down. It is the processor problem they can not reach the temperature. Be sure that the CPU fan is spinning so that it will control the CPU temperature. If the fan is not spinning it will cause overheating. Try to disassemble the unit specifically the CPU. Clean your unit remove the dust, when you assemble back your unit make sure that you will put a thermal paste between the CPU and the CPU heat sink so that the of the CPU will absorbed by the heat sink.

Good luck!
