According to Canon support the DC100 needs DVD-R/RW discs. It will NOT read DVD+R/RW. Look close at the disc packaging.

Now excuse me I have to go return some discs. Grrrr

There are only 4 possible solutions,

1. Dirty or faulty discs, but as you've tried different discs this doesn't seem likely.

2. Condensation has developed in the camcorder, leave it in a dry indoor temperatured place for a couple of hours and try again.

3. Dirty lens won't let the laser read the disc. Look for lens cleaning camcorderkit in a store.

4. Manufacturing error

Hope this will help you.

If the camera is still not working with DVD-R and DVD-RW discs you may have to have it repaired. Try resetting it first (the reset button is behind the battery) and that doesn't work you may have to have it repaired. I had the same problem and I took my camera to an electronics shop and they found that my CCD sensor is not working so it has to be replaced. The total cost for the repair is $140, ($50 for parts and $90 for labor)

My camera won't turn on, and I dong know what to do it charges both buttons turn red but it won't eject my disc the screen won't come on or anything

I have a DCR-HC32. I left mine out in the rain. It would not power on. There is a reset button on the side of the eject tape door. I held this in for 5-10 seconds, the camera beeped and I was then able to eject the tape. This was after I put the camera in the freezer over night since I left it out and it got wet. My touch screen doesn't work. I already bought a new camera.

I just bought new discs for my Canon DC100. The

It's possible that, for some reason, the disks aren't compatible. It can almost drive you crazy trying to figure out why. To find out for sure if this is the case, try some new Panasonic discs, with the same specifications as the old ones that worked, and see if they work. If they don't work, you're probably having a dvr issue with the laser lens or related parts within the camera. There are many issues with dvrs that develop over time, requiring replacement parts and service. In those cases, it's usually better to get a replacement camcorder. The new HDD camcorders are immune from a lot of problems inherent with dvr and tape recorders.

Canon dc100 will not finalize memorex disc, which says it can be used in canon

make sure the power adapter is connected, you can not finalize on battery power alone. also make sure you are in playback mode...it will say original in the top left corner..then you should be able to finalize when you go into the menu

Pop a dvd r/rw in it reply no disc

I just got an estimate back from the electronics shop that is going to fix the camera. According to them the CCD optical sensor is not working so it has to be replaced. The total cost to fix the camera is appx $140 ($50 for parts and $90 for labor) If you try resetting the camera first (the reset button is behind the battery) and it doesn't work, this could possibly be your problem.

Initializing DVD-RW Discs

This camcorder only takes DVD-R and DVD-RW, it will not work with the +R discs. I've used Maxell and Fujifilm discs and they both worked fine. You have to make sure the camcorder is plugged in the wall when initializing or else it won't initialize.
