Re: microsoft notebook reciever 1024

The optical receiver just stopped working all of a sudden. Purchased Driver detector for $29.99, but it did not solve the problem.

The green LED on this reciever is also a button. Press the LED on the reciever with a small blunt object (pencil will work) and then press the "connect" button on the bottom of the mouse. The green LED should come on, and restore the connection between the reciever and the mouse.

That was a waste of money. A new mouse would have been cheaper. If it suddently quit working the problem is probably hardwre related. Eliminate the usb port by plugging something else into that port and try the receiver in a different port.

do you have a ps2 adapter for it? If so this doesn't even require drivers in the first place if you use it.

Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is not working, reciever??

Your mouse is not sending any signal to receiver. Both items are working.
First look for a tiny thin button that protrudes from one of the sides where the receiver is placed in mouse, it might be stuck, push it gently down a couple of times, it has to be out for as long as the receiver is in the USB port.
If it still doesn't work, take the battery off, while holding down said button insert a new and fresh battery and then simultaneously release the button also considering that the battery terminals are clean. Hope you can solve your problem. Good luck!!! Chawah.

try using an eraser on the contacts if you can reach them. Sounds like dirt/corrosion build-up.

I have already broken two of them. It seems that the receiver is very sensitive to hits. Probably a PCB issue. I disassembled the receiver and discovered that if I bend it a little it starts working but if I leave it stops.

My green light on the receiver is ON. The mouse battery is new. The red LASER switches with movement. I read all of the posts, than I pulled apart the receiver and the wires were OK. There is a micro-switch in the receiver, so I pushed it when plugged in to the computer. The green light flashes, then I pushed the button on the bottom of the mouse, it connects. To make short of this, do not open the receiver case, just use a pen and push the green "connect" light (must be in USB port), it will activate reset switch and blink. Next, push "connect" on the bottom of mouse.
