Check that the drivers for your modem is installed,
start / right click computer and choose properties then device manager,,

yellow highlighted componets means that there is an error

If its not install install them, If you need to and dont have the drivers, you can use a program like driver magician to download them for you or give you the hard ware make and modle in which case you can google them

if it is installed then you may need to setup the modem, go into the control panel and select Modems or Dialing devices then add,'
select the modem you want installed and thats it.

On the Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP) screen, enter the details as follows:
a) Dial-up phone number: 0198308333
b) User name: Your full Westnet username. This will generally be in the format of yourusername@westnet.com.au, or sometimes yourusername@wn.com.au.
c) Password: Enter your Westnet password. This is case-sensitive, so ensure your caps lock key is switched off and you are entering your password in the correct case.
d) Connection name: It is recommended you change this to Westnet Dial-up Connection.
e) Allow other people to use this connection: If you have other Windows user accounts on this computer, and you intend for them to be able to use this dial up connection, check the box. Otherwise, leave it unchecked.
f) Ensure you have connected your modem to the phone socket, and click Connect. This will automatically attempt to test the new connection by dialing up to the internet.

Trying to connect to internet but screen says internal modem has no driver - it sees no modem

If you're compuer is connected to a router or DSL/Cable modem through Ethernet connection, you don't need to have to use internal modem. Internal modem are just for dial up connection.

If everytime you launch IE browser and it gives you that prompt, your browser may have set up to connect everytime to a dial up connection. Try to check these settings on your IE:

1. Go to Start> Settings> Control Panel> Internet Options
2. On Internet Options, go to Connections tab.
3. Delete everything under Dial Up and Virtual Private Network Settings, Or just set it to 'Never Dial A Connection'.
4. Click on LAN Settings button.
5. On the next window, uncheck everything (particularly the proxy setting).
6. Click OK all the way out.

My new pc Dell Inspiron desktop has no modem built in for dial-up internet connection. Im currently subscribing to a dial-up service provider on another pc, how do I connect to the same dial-up service...

You have to configure Internet Connections Sharing on the PC which has a dial-up service.
1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel - Network Connections, right click on dial-up.
2. Clik on Properties, click on Advanced tab.
3. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box

After that you must connect the other pc to this one via network cable.
If you don'y have network adapters you have to buy them.

Failed to connect to dial up connection

Double click on modem in control panel and check properties. Make sue drivers are installed and it is set to wait for dial tone. Does the modem attempt to dial out at all. Is there any error messages? Is the phone cord connected to the pc and the wall and is it in good condition. There are many possible reasons and everything needs to be checked. Lets start simple first. Do those things then post results.
