I have a Brookstone My Life eight inch digital picture show (MD AH 1212-B) that refuses to boot. Only "Brookstone" and copyright information appears on the screen. No memory bar appears. Then the digital frame will not turn off unless you remove the power cord. I believe I loaded an *.avi file that was larger than the remaining memory. Is there any way to completely erase the digital frame memory and reinitialize the software/hardware? Are there any button combinations that will reset the device upon power-up? When connected to my computer I get a message that "This folder is empty". I am unable to use the computer to reformat the device as it appears there is no communication. No flash memory is recognized when plugged into the device.

Brookstone is absolutely no help. They will not even attempt to find technical help and they will not even give me the time of day since I do not have the original cash register reciept.

I got Brookstone digital picture frame for a Christmas present and just recently it stopped working. It won't boot and when I turn it on only the Brookstone logo appears. None of the other buttons work and when plugged in to the computer there is no communication.

I contacted Brookstone and was told that without an original receipt I am out of luck even if I'm within the 1 year warranty period, which I am. If the frame was purchased on line however they can access your receipt and will exchange your frame for a new one.

About a month after receiving as a Christmas gift last year (2007), the frame (model AH1812-B) at first would freeze on the Brookstone logo screen. Of course, the receipt was thrown out. After sitting on a shelf for 10 months, I tried it again, and now the screen doesn't even illuminate. What an expensive piece of sh*t. Any chance for a class-action suit against trash like this being sold to consumers?

Nothing really more to add, just the same problem everyone else seems to be having. The USB computer connection won't work either, so it seems we are without a solution.

  • Anonymous Feb 19, 2009

I too have the same problem. Loads and freezes. I guess it is junk.

Brookstone digital picture frame stopped working. When I turn it on the blue screen with " brookstone" message shows up. Is there a reset button inside of it? I don' have the receipt and I got it two years ago. What should I do? Thank you.

I bought one for me and one for Mom, hers worked well for 8 months, didn't seem to matter file size. Then one day it just stopped working, plug in power, touch on button, nothing, just green light on bottom. So I thought i would take out mine, still new in the box, I plug in connect to PC and just a blue screen. OK, so I try a small file, nada, blue screen. At least with mine connected to PC I can see the DCIM file and the 2 samples pics I loaded through explorer. But Mom's is hammered. I paid like 200 buck for these and I have nothing.

Plug it up, just blue light only use for 3 months 4-9-09

Cheap **** - Really Brookstone? No reset? No way to format? Crappy warranty? Poor workmanship? No software that resizes your images so they won't crash your picture frame? screw you guys, I'm never shopping here again

Yes it sucks and I could not find my receipt so I could not return it. I just moved into a new home and now I found the receipt with the two year warranty........it expired in December. Grrrrrrrrrr! Do not ever buy a digital frame from Brookstone, and I was sure I had images that were sized properly for it. I will not shop at Brookstone ever again after this.

I uploaded large 10.7 meg pictures and mine works fine, just holds fewer pictures. I see a reset hole located where the usb connector is on the side. push a pointed object in the holw to reset unit.

The first thing I would look at to try to fix this is file sizes. You may have loaded at least one high resolution photo on the frame, and this could cause an issue. I recommend making a resized copy of larger photos - resize them down to a size around 800x600 max. This size provides a good balance of improved performance and good image quality - and the file size reduction that occurs means that more photos can be stored on the frame.
If that does not correct the issue, I would then re-format the frame's memory. Connect the frame to my PC, select the corresponding drive in "My Computer", right-click on this drive and select menu option "Format".

Brookstone my life pocket album error

I had the same problem. I lwas able to load more pictures because I bypassed the function. It is easy. Just open the resized picture file on your computer, then, copy (control c) the pictures you want, and then open the photo album device through "my computer" and paste into the appropriate album. My digital photo album was listed as F Drive in my computer.

Cant copy any pictures from computer

You can start copying pictures to SV811 digital picture frame if you get the message “Use PC interface to copy files.” Here are the steps:
Copy pictures, videos, and music between your frame and computer, using your computer's normal file copying tools:

1. Connect the USB cable from the frame to your computer
2. On your computer, open My Computer or Windows Explorer.

The picture frame appears as removable drives—one drive for each connected picture source in the frame, in this order: internal memory, memory cards, and USB devices.

3. Navigate to the pictures you want to copy. Then drag and drop them to the new location.
4. Unplug the USB cable to view your copied pictures.

Copying pictures from EasyShare software:

1. Install EasyShare software (free download at www.kodak.com/go/sw )
2. Connect the USB cable.
3. On your computer, open EasyShare software. Select the pictures in My Collection and drag them into the Picture tray.
4. In the menu bar, select File and then Copy to the Kodak Drive letter.

The picture frame appears as removable drives—one drive for each connected picture source in the frame, in this order: internal memory, memory cards, and USB devices.

5. Select the frame source to which you are copying.
6. Select Best for Digital Picture Frame to reduce the resolution of the pictures you are copying. Full resolution is unnecessary and quickly fills up the frame's memory.
7. Click Copy. Pictures are copied to your frame.
8. Unplug the USB cable and press “Home” icon to navigate to your copied pictures.

Brookstone SongCube

I had the same problem last night, I tried everything like you did, maybe I just got lucky. I was about to open the case of the unit, the system boot stopped and it went to sleep mode, then I turned it on and luckily the CD can be ejected. Just try playing around with it, you might get lucky. Good Luck...... NOTE: Never play that CD again in your SongCube
