If your running xp pro or vista ultimate you can right click on my computer select manage then user. make sure the user you want is turned on and the other off by right clicking on each user selecting properties and checking or unchecking disable. if the user you want isn't located there then you did a fresh install and the only thing you can do is copy + paste your files into your new account. you could have done a windows repair without losing info. all it would do is reinstall windows files, but too late for that. if this doesn't work please specify on your problem

I need to factory reset my computer, I am the administrator of the computer my password has been working and all of a sudden it quit, don't know it or it's messed up so i need to reset the computer wi

There are multiple ways to reset the administrative password, some requiring more PC familiarity than others. I don't know what you are running, XP or 7 on this 2011 notebook but the below may help in either case.

If your computer is part of a network, the systems administrator can change the password without knowing the prior password.

If there is a 2nd administrator account on the computer and you know the password of that account, you can use it to change the password. See: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-Software-Recovery/I-FORGOT-MY-ADMINISTRATOR-PASSWORD/td-p/247032

You might be lucky enough to discover that even though you have had an administrative account with a password, you might also have one that does not have a password! To check for this, at the login screen press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. Type is Administrator as a user name and leave the password blank and hit enter. You can then go to Control Panel's User Accounts and reset your password from there.

If none of the above applies and you have access to another computer, you can use a password reset disc that you have to burn such as http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ or by folllowing process in Hiren's Boot CD (google for that). The pogostick should work with XP or Windows 7. A user on the HP link advises you to enter a wrong password and only after you are prompted to reset the password do you insert the password reset disk and click a link.

The point is that you may not have to go to a factory reset if you can simply reset the password. Read through the HP link I provided and you may find just what fits your situation.

If you discover your computer has enough problems that you need to indeed go back to factory defaults, let us hope that at least XP SP3 was installed at the factory when it was released. If you get to the recovery console by pressing F10 (for the XP) repeatedly or F11 (possibly for Windows 7), you may be able to make use of system restore rather than a destructive factory reset which would wipe your data. Hope this helps.

How to reset to factory settings for e machine T2878

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings. Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor. Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs." Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab. Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process. Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

Wipe the computer memory and restore factory settings

You can recover any files deleted from computer. best thing you can do that to recover any file is by using recovery software, but you must act quickly before that file will gone forever because everything that you do, installing, downloading anything you do can make this file lost forever, my recommendation is Asoftech Data recovery which helped me before, download from
    Deleted Files Recovery Software

I want to know how to restore mr presario compaq sr1720nx back to factory settings

There are multiple instances when you would want to wipe your PC's memory clean and reset it to the factory defaults.

Called "formatting," it is often the last-ditch effort to restore a PC to functionality.

You will also have to format your PC if it gets crippled by viruses.

Although these instructions are for the Compaq Presario, the steps are essentially the same for all Windows based PCs. Be sure that you want to delete everything this process is irreversible.

Back up any data that you want to keep by saving it to removable media, such as external hard drives, flash drives, DVD-R, etc.

Unplug all peripheral devices, except for the keyboard and mouse.

Turn on the computer. As the computer is starting, repeatedly press F1 to initiate the recovery process.

When the BIOS setup screen appears, press the right arrow key to select "Boot".

Press the down arrow key to select "Boot Device Priority" and press "Enter".

Press the down arrow key to select "CD-ROM" and press "+" to move it to the top of the list.

Open the CD-ROM tray, and insert the system recovery disk.

Exit the BIOS setup by pressing "F10". Be sure to select "Save Changes and Exit".

System recovery should initiate. If it does not, and the PC loads Windows, then you have either failed to set the CD-ROM at the top of the boot priority list or you exited the BIOS setup without saving.

Press "R" to begin the recovery process.

When prompted, select "Full System Recovery".

Restart the computer when the process has completed.

    Hope this helps.

I want to restore my compaq presario SR 1050NX to factory but it is asking for administrator password and I didn't put one on

Try admin or just hit enter. If not remove the battery from the mother board for 5 minutes and see whether it helps. If you haven't entered a password on BIOS there shouldn't be any problem. Also try deleting if you have any other users accounts on the system.

    Good Luck!
