It wont work!!

My son won this camcorder but I cannot get it to record or take pictures. It keeps flashing "Check card protect switch" But on the SD card itself is on unlock. Does anyone have any ideas??? My son would love to use it since he worked so hard to win.

My camcorder indicates there is an sd card but will not record to it

Check to make sure the type of SD. card matches what the maufacturer calls for. Also the SD card may need to be formatted before you can record to it. Check your intruction manual to find out how to format the card. One last thing to check is if the SD card is locked. Usually on one of the corners there is a sliding tab used to protect and unprotect against recording over any material that may be on the card. Hope this helps.

Saying card protect and won't let me record

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
If that doesn't do it, try another card.
