Turn off the video mute if it has this setting. Try using a VCR tuner and connect the VCR to the TV on AV1 or AV2 inputs. THis fix is free until Feb. 09. After that, you will need a DTV converter box or pay for a cable/sat box.

Philips Magnavox Plasma TV went off.

The red LED merely indicates that power is getting to your TV. There may have been a power supply failure, especially since your TV is a 2008 model

I have one forall remote need codes for phillips magnavox tv so i can program my tv

Codes and manuals for most One For All remotes are available here: http://www.oneforall.com/support/manual . Select Universal Remote Control and then your specific model to download the manual as a PDF. Note: some of the English only manuals truncate before the code list which follows the Spanish translation for bilingual manuals.

For example the codes for the 8820N are CRT: Philips 1454, 0054, 0690, 1744, 1867 and Magnavox 1454, 1866, 0054, 0096, 0802, 1198, 1254, 1365, 1931, 1944, 1963, 1990

LCD: Magnavox 1866, 0802, 1198, 1365, 1990 and Philips 1454, 1744, 1867

Plasma: Magnavox 1866 and Philips 0690, 1744

Combination units have additional codes. Please note that if the remote is older than the TV, you may need a new remote. Codes are usually limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed.

I hope this helps. If you can't find your model, please let me know and I'll try to find the code. Just provide your TV type (CRT, LCD, Plasma) and the remote model.

HI:
This is a plasma unit and philips plasma's are nortorious for bad power supplys, your problem may very well be the power suppy in the television, it is possible you blew a low B+ fuse on the power supply. There is also a issue with the Y-sustain board failing in this model, If you open the back and looking at the unit from the rear the y board is on the left side of the unit and the PS is in the center. disconnect the Y-sustain power plug from the power supply and turn on the unit if the unit stays on with no red light then the y board is bad. it does the same then replace the Power Supply.

My Magnavox 42MF231D 42" T.V

You may have a weak power supply. This would indicate one or two capacitors that are weak or bad. This model may be about 4 years now and this is a good indicator as these capacitors need replacing. The other problem may be the infared board in the TV that receives the signal from the remote may be a problem as well. I would certainly investigate my first thought. The latter is kind of rare. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

My plasma screen goes black on bottom 1/2 of the screen

In most cases the lower Y-Buffer board causes this issue. Unless you know how to work on a TV it is suggested that you have a technician look at the TV and repair it for you.

My 50 inch plasma

We have a 50 inch magnavox plasma screen. We found and used a fix from fixya! It only costs us $34.00 campared to the $300.00+
anyone wanted to look at it. The problem was on the powerboard but was two little capacitators with the model #3300 10v. We carefully took the back off the tv and removed the power board, went to a local electric supply store and bought the 2 parts for $2 each, we then found someone (tv repair shop!) to sauter the new ones on! Got it home put it back together and it stayed on, no depressing shutdown after a few seconds! you can find a picture of a fried capacitator on yahoo images, they are supposed to be flat but if defective will be bubbled at the top or even split! I am calling Magnavox today to complain that they are not recalling this part that should have been a better quality capacitator! Hope this helps some people!!
