Question about Dryers

Have a "finshing" noise even when drum stops a turn

Maytag dependable care dryer - 1997 or 1998. I have a noise when the drum turns but only when it reaches a certain spot. Also, it will do it when you manually spin the drum by hand when it is off. One thing I noticed is, looking in from the back plate, that when the motor and drum stop, the noise keeps going and seems to be coming from inside the front lint screen cover on the lower left side front of the drum. Could this be worn-out inside motor bearings or the vent blower bearings? Should I replace whole dryer or just motor or lint screen blower unit.?
Thanks,
Bob

I had a similar problem and found a screw had backed out on one of the turning paddles inside the drum but the screw was on the under side , and could reach it through the access door , just had to turn the drum by hand till the screw was in sight.

just turn the drum inside by the paddles and shake them to make sure they are tight , thats how i found my problem and noise

good luck hope this helps , wayne t

The dryer was making a horrible squeaking sound, the drum stopped turning, so i took it apart, but the belt was not broken and the wheels seemed to be ok, so i put it back together and the drum still...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to check/replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other connections.
Remove the lint filter screws and filter.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Loud noise when dryer is turning. It makes a loud clunk when it stops. the dryer is hot and turn it just is very loud

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Rumbling noise in maytag gas dryer DG110 series 01

Unplug Dryer first: Page 3-11 of full service manual at link below will get front off. The most common solution for your problem is the blower wheel loose on the shaft. Hold drum and see if you can turn blower wheel (lower left plastic squirrel cage) separately. If you can turn the plastic wheel while you hold drum still, replace blower wheel.

ELECTRIC DRYER MODEL# PDET910AYW

When you turned the drum backwards you caused the belt to come off. Put the belt back on.
While you have it open to re-install the belt check the blower wheel very carefully for the noise. It is probably loose and needs replacing.

Dryer stops in the middle of cycle

The door latch has failed, that's why your dryer stops. When the door opens it stops the drum and turns off. Fix the latch.
