OK this systems has a safety system and it will not let gas pass threw without the pilot light working correctly. first off near the pilot light there is a thermal coupling. this sends a signal to the main valve to open up. this thermal coupling need to get to a set temp. (hot) this is probably why you don't hear the gas. check if there is a manual bypass valve for maintenance. check if you can light the pilot rite away if you power the system on. it also has a time delay so the pilot won't give gas out if not fired on. sometimes there is a manual nozzle you have to press and hold till the gas pilot warms up the thermal coupling. hope i help some. thank you.

How to relight pilot on boiler

Every boiler will have manufacturer lighting instructions on the unit, so be sure to read it thoroughly and turn off the gas for 5 min to make sure there is no gas build-up around the boiler. Some have electronic ignition and some require a manual lighting of the pilot. If the control knob has only ON-OFF, it has electronic ignition. Simply turn off the power (at the electric switch on the boiler or at the breaker box) and then turn it back on and it will relight itself when heat is needed) If it has ON-OFF-PILOT, you will have to light it manually. You will have to turn the gas valve knob so the arrow is pointing at the word "pilot" and depress the knob, while lighting the pilot with a lighter or match. Continue to hold the knob down after the pilot is lit for about 30-45 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat up. If you release the pilot knob and the pilot stays lit, you can turn the knob to the "ON" position and the burner will light. Please be careful. if you are not sure what you are doing, call a professional.

How can we ignite the pilot switch

The directions are on the inside cover of the water heater as well as on the paperwork you received with the unit.
If you have none of these, get the make and model number of the unit and look it up on the internet.
General directions to light a gas appliance:
1.Turn the switch to, "Off"
2.Remove the 2 panels at the base of the unit.
3 Identify the pilot device.
4.Get a long lighter or match on a stick that reaches the pilot.
5.Turn the gas knob to the, "Pilot" position
6.Light the match and put it next to the pilot while pressing down the knob
7. Keep the knob pressed for about 45 seconds after the pilot lights
8. Let go of the knob so it's in the, "up" position
9. Turn the knob to the, "On" position
-the water heater should fire up in under a minute.
10. Put the metal panels back into position.

I have a Kenmore elite dishwasher. The Pots and Pans red light is flashing and the Heated Dry light is solid red. Nothing I do will change that. I've tried pushing any combination of buttons and ...

Hi

If clean light is blinking then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

I have switched my unit over to heat and only cool air blows out. Is there a reset button I can try before calling out a repair man.

It depends on what type of unit you have if it is gas or electric. If it is gas your pilot light is probably not lit .take the top door of your furnace off look under the burner and see if there is a small flame lit . if not it is simple to light turn the knob on the gas valve to pilot then push in on the know while holding a match at the pilot head to find the pilot head trace the small aluminuim pipe from the gas valve to where it ends that will be the pilot head once the pilot lights count to 10 slowly then switch the knob to the on position and your set make sure the t-stat is in the off position before lighting the pilot light.

If it is electric heat strips or a heat pump there is nothing to do other than turn t-stat to heat and make sure all 220 breakers are in the on position.

GE Hot water heater Model GG40T06TVG00 Won't light. Recent actions: Pressure Release was continually leaking. Replaced with 150lb 3/4" with long neck. Not enough water was drained from tank and upon...

Hello,

If your GE hot water heater fails to light, the first thing you should do is make sure the gas is turned on. Before checking the gas be sure to turn the control knob over to "Pilot." This will prevent the heater from coming on unexpectedly while you are checking the unit. After making sure that the knob is set to "Pilot," carefully remove the cover and look for the flame at the end of the gas line.
If the pilot light is not on, it is possible that the gas inlet valve is partially or totally closed. To check, turn the handle next to the line and follow the instructions on the tank to relight the pilot light. Keep the cover off of the unit and look for the pilot light to go on. If the pilot light does not light, gas may not be flowing. If you suspect a problem with the gas line, be sure to contact your utility company right away.
If you suspect that the burner on your GE hot water heater is not on, remove the cover and carefully look at the burner. If the burner is not on, make sure that the thermostat is set properly. The thermostat should be set to approximately 120 degrees Fahrenheit - if the setting it not right adjust it and then turn on a hot water faucet and allow it to run for several minutes. After the faucet has been running for a few minutes, look at the burner again. If the burner does not ignite, try adjusting the thermostat up and down until the burner comes on.
Good luck.

I have atwood pilot relight model gc6aa-8 pilot will light but after tank heats up & there is no call for hot water, pilot is out and very hard sometimes impossible to relight.

So are you saying that the first initial lighting of the pilot, without turning to on, works o.k., good flame etc, ? If not sure, try lighting pilot only, and leave setting at pilot only, and see if it's a good flame, and get back to me.

Blower but no heat, no gas or no pilot ignition?

The pilot has to be lit.And to do so turn the knob to pilot. Then press it down and gas will come threw the pilot, then light the pilot, and hold the button down for about 45 seconds, count slow. The pilot has to heat the thermocouple up before the pilot light will stay on.Once it stays lit, turn the knob to on.

To test the thermocouple you will need to heat the tip with a lighter and use fluke meter to test the millivoltage being produced by it. To purge the unit of air shut off the gas line valve. Disconnect the connecter on the unit. And turn on the valve just slightly for a few seconds and release a little bit of gas. Be very careful doing this!!! Make sure there are no sources of ignition nearby. A few seconds of bleeding should be enough to clear out any air in the gas line. Then re-connect and tighten connector using two wrenches(one for a backup) then turn thee valve back on and listen/smell for any gas and soap fittings to check for leaks. After the air is clear if this is a manually set pilot then push the ASO button you use to set the pilot. You may need to hold it for a minute to make sure all the air goes thru the pilot. Then light the pilot while holding the ASO button in. You may need to hold this for a minute or two. When you let go it should stay lit. Look for a strong pilot flame that is blue not yellow and is making proper impingment with the thermocouple/pilot generator head assembly. You will not be able to fully test this unit without the water on due to this unit works off of a pressure/flow switch and the burner will not come on if it does not have water flowing. If it is not electric ignition and the pilot is lit manually then you should be able to light the pilot and have it stay on.
