I opened the front of my dryer and the idler pully was lying on its side in the middle of the bottom of the dryer. I found another belt that was broken up I can't figure where this one goes. I seams to be a gasket of some kind.

I have taken the front of the dryer and found the idler pully laying on it's side in the middle of the dryer bottom. I also found another small belt or gasket on the bottom of the dryer. I don't have a clue at this time how to fix it back together.

Replacing idle roller pulley

Hi vlzadra...
Your Idle pulley will attach at the bottom of the dryer... it will go into a slot and look for slight wear marks on one of the slots to install your idler pulley.
I will send you a drawing of how to route the belt and it will show the location of the idler pulley attached to the dryer base
Please rate me

Our dryer has a terrible squeak. We replaced the

The terrible squeak is probably the idler pulley shaft spalling in the idle pulley mount. When the idler pulley siezes to to pulley shaft it spins in the mount and makes a horrible racket.

It can be the motor bearings also but I doubt it at this time. With the belt off you can spin the motor and listen for any odd sound. If you hear nothing then the problem is definately the idler pulley assy.

It is normal for the drum to float in place. When there is a problem with the drum or drum felts, you usually hear a cyclic scrape or grinding sound that is concurrent with each rotation of the drum.

Thanks for using FixYa.

No error code but dryer drum is not turning

Check to see if the drum belt has broken or slipped off of the motor pulley or idle arm pulley...sometimes that is the problem.
You can also turn the drum by hand a 1/4-1/2 turn with the dryer turned off , then try again to start the dryer. Sometimes motors will get a dead zone in them and this will help them to start.

The dryer will not turn on. Timer is ticking I think it may be the start button

Could be the start button, but also could be a broken drum belt or the belt maybe has slipped off the motor pulley or idle arm pulley. Also could be a bad motor. Check to see if the motor is turning first and the belt is on properly.

My belt broke on my kenmore dryer and the idle pulley was just laying on the bottom. how do i install it or a new one and does the belt sit on top of it or thread through it.

The pulley should be attached to a spring and its used as a tensioner (keep the belt tight) find a spring that is not connected on one end

Belt broke

Buy a new belt. Insert the idler pulley into the slots under the motor pulley. The wheel should be on the left side of the motor as you face it.
Put the belt around the drum, then through the idler roller. Then over the motor pulley.

Can't get replacement parts back on Kenmore 60 series dryer.

The belt has groves, right? Make sure the groves go over the motor pulley from the right. The idler pulley is spring loaded. Place the belt around the idling pulley with the smooth side of the belt on the pulley. This should work.
