Smudge looking marks onscreen

Hi, I have a 60 inch sony lcd model KDFE60a20. On the screen are thumb sized marks that look like smudges, however, they are not smudges. I tried cleaning the screen several times and the marks do not fade or dissapear. Any ideas what this might be. The marks are mainly in the middle of the screen

I have the same problem, but it's on a Visco (Not Vizio) brand. No longer in business I guess. I might have aggravated the problem with trying to get innovative with cleaning the screen or trying to clean it. Smudge started at upper right corner of the screen. Nothing I did there. Just all of a sudden a friend mentions it. I stupidly tried cleaning it, which wasn't the right way and it got worse. I used proper LCD cleaner on it this time and no go. No matter how lovingly I spread that stuff and how liberally, no go. Buying another one. It's in the mail. I don't want to get rid of this other one. If anyone knows something would be nice to know how to get rid of the smudges.

If you suddenly noticed it, this is most likely caused by a large piece of dust on the lens. It is hard to clean, you would need to take the whole TV apart in order to get to the lens (mounted on the optical block).

It could also be caused by a failure of the optical block, which had inherent issues. There is a pending class action law suit against Sony for problems with optical block that include smudges, hazes, and tints that appear after a certain number of hours.

Other causes could be a dirty portion of the mirror or a smudge on the inside part of the screen but these are rare because dust and contaminants do not usually accumulate on these parts of the TV.

Yellow smudge on screen sony wega

Its another instance of the optical block (light engine) failure these TVs are known for. Heat from the lamp has damaged the LCD panels in the light engine. Sony has been directed by the attorney general's office in New York to warranty these TVs going back 4 model years. Call Sony at: 1-800-222-SONY for assistance.

Brown smudges on clothes

Take a look and see if the drum near the door moves up vertically. It shouldn't move more than 3/16ths of an inch. If it does, replace the upper felt seal/plastic slide. The upper seal that supports the front of the drum on the front of the dryer is worn out to the point that clothes can get stuck in the gap between the drum and the front of the machine. This leaves brown wedge marks on clothes. While it's apart, replace the lower felt seal as well.
