My truck starts running hot then I turn the heater on and it blows cold air but every once in a while the heater will throw out hot air. Then the temp gauge will go down. I've check med the radiator cap and I believe the thermostat is good cause both hoses get got like its opening up. I just don't know what to look at next.

I'd still check the thermostat. Or basically just replace it. Have you ever drained all the antifreeze and flushed the system? Good time to do both. If the hose's get real hot that doesn't really mean the thermostat open. Wouldn't they get hot even if the thermostat didnt open.? If the thermostat was stuck open you'd would have cold air and low temp gauge. Then maybe hit a pump or something and have the thermostat stick closed and have high temp. Maybe water pump. Check it when you have the belt off. Spin, pull & push the water pump pulley around. I'd replaced my water pump at about 110,000 on a '97 dodge Dakota. My 97 never had a very good heater. Always heated up more after driving. Idle never got it warmed up.

2000 caddy Seville ...after starting and engine warm turn on the heater and it blows cold air. Fan works / waiting for hot air and then all the sudden it kicks in. Engine at normal temp

Low coolant, if there is an air pocket in the engine it will make it to the heater core. Once there , the air coming out is cold/cool. Once the coolant fills the heater core, it gets hot. If the coolant is fine hot or cold, then have the HVAC system scanned.

2004 camry ac light blinking and throws hot air. Suggestions?

My 2003 Toyota Camry AC often starts blowing hot air and the AC light starts blinking. I don't know why the following process works, but it does. Using the temp selector (left) reduce the temperature all the way down to Max Cold and then push the Auto button. It will start blowing out very cold air. After a little while push the temp selector to the desired temperature.

My heater blows cold air. I have had it checked. The water is hot and is running properly through. Mechanic had no explanation as to why only cold air was blowing in and not hot.

It seems to Me that, the heatercore is not functioning properly. Its just like a radiator, the hot water runs through the core, once the thermostat opens at it's set temperature and having the blower motor on, it should blow out hot air.

Air Conditioner blows very hot air

ASE mechanic here:
sounds like a mode door is stuck causing the air flow to go across the heater core only and not the evaporator. try activating the hot to cold functions to may be un stick the doors. if no changes then try a computer scanner, these new cars can have HVAC control codes and be accessed with a scanner, telling you the problem. if no access to that a good European shop is the next best thing. They might be cheaper than a Porsche dealer.

it sounds like you have a blend door problem. This is located in the HVAC sysem it closes a door from cold side to hot side. sounds like a bad servo motor or a vacuum leake on that motor. Hope this helps you, please rank this solution
