The most common cause for your problem is the gas valve coils. There are 2 and should be replaced in pairs. Over time, they will fire when you first start the dryer but fail to fire again once in mid cycle. A link for a typical set of coils is listed below:

Not heating up Gas Dryer

Modern gas dryers do not have a pilot light. They have an electronic ignitor (glow or spark). A glow ignitor turns on several seconds before the gas turns on and should get orange hot. A spark ignitor should make a clicking or buzzing noise.

Most likely the ignitor is bad but you can check it fairly easily to make certain. The best instructions I have found are at

http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dryer/gdryer/check/ignitor.php

If it is the ignitor it can be replaced with a few hand tools. Remove the bad ignitor. Write down the make, model, and serial # of your dryer. Call your local appliance parts store to see if they have one it stock before driving over there.

It does not have a pilot. It uses a glow bar ignition system. You probably have a bad glow bar if it is not heating at all part number 279311

Lighting the pilot

there is no flame type pilot. when you turn on the dryer remove small cover on lower left front panel to view if you see a orange glow, which means your ignitor is getting power listen for 1ckick sound and then a second after the ing glows. there a few things that could be bad ignitor. soleinods on the gas valve or a bad thermal fuse
