Is it possible to install the ASUS Xonar Essence STX Sound card to a laptop internally?

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2011

no- its not like the WIFI card inside a laptop-- it is a little chip soldered to the motherboard
and there are no expansion slots INSIDE-- only the PC card slot (akaPCMCIA) on the side

I have ASUS Xonar DS installed on my PC (2.8GHz Pentium, 2Gb RAM, 160Gb HDD). When I try to record using Audacity or some other recording program I find that the recording seems to "miss" some...

I would check to make sure that you dont have anything else running while encoding the audio. Since audio encoding is processor intensive it very easily could be an application or AntiVirus software interfering with the ability to record audio.

What is the best external sound card to play and talk at the same time into a chat room

ASUS Xonar DX ($89.99) or HT Omega Striker ($89.99) would be great if you are on a mid budget.

check these out as well.
ASUS:
Xonar DX
Xonar D2/D2X
Essence ST/STX

Auzentech:
Forte
Prelude

HT Omega:
Striker
Claro

Frankly, the Claro (HT Omega) and Essence ST/STX (ASUS) are the best soundcards on the market, bar none (with the Prelude not that far behind). The Striker (HT Omega) and Xonar DX (ASUS) take up the budget space check and compare all these then make a desicion based on every detail you need.

Please don't forget to leave a feedback and testimony if it works.

Hi,. I own Asus Xonar DX two years ago without problems... I formatted my PC (Win7 x64) yesterday, and now i have sound issues when i use 5.1 feature... The sound turns slow and distorted... I uninstalled...

are these the drivers you tried?
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=Asus%20Xonar%20DX%20Sound%20Card&v=ASUS&uid=XONARDX&pf=0&pi=0&s=xonar%20ds&os=64-bit
Is there a chance that the windows 7 will recognize the soundcard and load its own drivers for it, they might work better?
I have seen Videocard drivers mess with soundcard drivers and vise versa (with Vista, XP and earlier)
Also if there is an onboard audio chip you'll want to disable it in the bios or at least in the device manager.

let me know if this helps or not
Thankyou

Why my computer did not detect sound.. even if i check the control panel sound volume and mixer working properly.. i try to install sound card same result...

you might have to uninstall then reinstall either the driver or the sound devices
control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustments there or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound, could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers or right click select properties to either troubleshoot, uninstall, rollback driver
hope this helps

Sound error..not detected

If your system is running Windows XP, you can try the tips for fixing sound problems in Windows XP.
If it is Vista, similar steps are possible of course.
In most cases the right sound driver will fix these issues, but make sure there are no resource conflicts in the Device manager.

Can a usb sound audio problem on acer aspire 4520

It could as long as you install the proper sound drives for your usb sound card. This is important cause your laptop has to be able to detect the device properly.

Sorry it took awhile for someone to get back to you.

Did you disable the onboard sound in the BIOS?

If you haven't done this yet (you may have), try it and post your results back here...
