Wheelwriter 5 print issue

I seem to have the same problem as many on this forum. Can you suggest where I can order an end cap? Is there anything else I can check before ordering the cap so I won't have to place two orders? Also, any instructions for the replacement. Am in communications, mechanical but a little help is often useful. Appreciate your advice......mike

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get a cap locally in So. Cal, some advice on how to put it on, which wasn't difficult and the problem is resolved. As the machine was purchased in 1984 and has worked flawlessly since, I couldn't fault the need for this work.........mike

The solenoid cap is available from us for $15.00 includes shipping. Before replacing the cap try some WD40 on the front & back of the solenoid they do gum up. The silonoid is located below the ribbon just inside the L. printer frame
To order send a check to:

Wheelwriter 30 series 2.

Put in a multi part form and type if the print is good on the carbons the problem is ribbon or ribbon lifting, if the print is poor the print solenoid cap is probably cracked. We sell the cap with instructions and shipping for 20.00.

My Wheelwriter 5 types faded and incomplete letters. We changed to a new ribbon, but problem is still there. Seems the pressure is not hard enough.

The solenoid for the hammer is probably sticky or the pad is worn.
This requires disassembly for cleaning, lube or replacing the pad.

I have a wheelwriter that won't type some punctuation (comma, period). I've changed the ribbon and tried different printwheels. Nothing solves the problem. Any suggestions?

The impact solenoid has a rubber cap that has worn down. Replacing the cap and adjusting the impact mechanism will get you back in operating order !

Wheelwriter 5 not printing

The print solenoid is under the ribbon just inside the L. printer side frame. When you type with the ribbon off you should see the plunger go in and out (a very short movement) on the back of the plunger is a plastic cap (clear to yellow from age) if the plunger moves and the yoke dosen't move or just bobbles a bit this is broken it is available from us for 15.00 includes shipping butcan be a little to install.

Get a new laser printer, or even inkjet. They can be had for under a hundred bucks. It'll cost you that to get someone old enough to know what a wheelwriter is to come and look it...
