A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Installed new memory it started fine then crashed no video now no beeps upon start up

Such errors of NO VIDEO mean:
- Memory not inserted correctly: pls remove and insert memory again
- Graphics cards possibly moved a bit while you were trying to install the memory: Remove graphics card and insert again.

Another reason could be: Graphics card is brurnt! Perhaps due to touching the chipset with hands full of static electric.
If above 2 suggestions do not work, put your graphics card in another PC and check if it works, if not -bad luck- replace it.

Beeping

Hi,

Un-installing and reinstalling the Memory Cards (RAM) from their slots may solve your problem. If they didn't installed properly that happens.
And please check the memory card (RAM) whether they are faulty or not. If there is faulty one, replace it with the new Memory Card. (It beeps if it is faulty or didn't installed properly when you power on the PC.)

Before opening the case please turn off the computer, unplug it from the electrical outlet, then touch the metal casing to eliminate any static charge. Refer to the owner's manual if necessary to determine how to open your particular PC case.

You can find the instructions on how to install PC Memory by clicking THIS LINK.

Hope this helps.

Waiting your comments.

Will not complete boot up into windows 2000. Has worked fine for years, other day there was a power outage and next day we came in and the server was blinking at the final stage of boot process before...

I would recommend you boot to your 2000 CD, load the RAID driver for the CERC, and go to Recovery Console and perform a CHKDSK /R and FIXBOOT at the command line. Sounds to me as if Windows has been damaged. Is the power light amber or blue?

Ibm xseries 235 eserver....all of a sudden stopped booting...it was set up through a kvm swtich, the kvm detects a signal and lights up the apprpriate port, yet nothing is displayed on the monitor....

Please expalin how you know "drives are good" (sic) As it would appear to me that this is indeed your problem? Unless as you say the video card has turned up it's toes. As you said the best way to check that is to enable the onboard Video and check, exactly what happens when you do that? Yes it will automatically use the video, it would install a generic video driver, and show video, are you sure the monitor is OK,have you swapped it out? Simply removing the Video card will automatically enable the onboard video, so you won't need to get inro BIOS. Check the RAM too, and remove any other cards in it.

Monitor and keyboard will not respond

It only happens with your keyboard and mouse? or does it include your monitor too? if it does include you monitor then it is the video card. It is built in to your system and is causing the problem. I got the same issue before. My mouse doesn't work, keyboard won't respond, monitor is blank. I know its the video card. It is not typical for a server to respond that way but you need to replace the system or replace the video card...

Hi there again,
I am assuming you are using XP OS.....
I have a couple of questions for you.

Try this.............
With computer on and camera NOT connected,
Please look at my computer,

1.What happens when you connect camera to usb lead then connect the lead to the computers usb port?

2,Would it upset you if we use another way of moving your photo and video files from camera to computer?

3.Does Memory card work in another device or computer?

Solution 1 =================================
If usb did not recongise the camera on the usb port then it will be a software and hardware reinstall ,
Remove usb lead from computer
Go to Add/Remove from you control panel.
Remove the cameras software.reboot.
restart install software first and reboot,
do not connect camera yet,WAIT.
once restarted add camera via usb
should be good to go.....

If it does continue to give you issues then consult the manufactuerer.

Solution 2 =================================
if the usb is connected to the camera via usb lead to usb port on the computer and you can see the cameras' drive info then its more than likely you will be able to open and use this file ,if so you should be able the move these files to your computer too.

Solution 3 =====================================
Explains itself really-Replace it if you need to.

Hope this sorts out your problem.
I beleive your card reader may be poked,
Uninstall and reinstall try again, replace if presists.

these solutions I have put forward have been proven to work in many situations so good luck and let us know the results thanks

Opening the case to increase memory on Poweredge 1800

Hi

First, turn off the system including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from its electrical outlet.

1. Using the system key, unlock the front bezel.
2. Slide the latch right and pull the top edge of the bezel away from the front panel. Pivot the bezel downward until it is at an angle to the panel. Remove the bezel from the slots on the panel.
3. Loosen the three thumbscrews on the left side of the cover.
4. Grasp the cover at both ends and slide it towards the front of the system. And lift the cover away from the system.
5. Press the release tab on the front and back of Fan 2 assembly, then slide the fan assembly (black plastic shroud) up and out of the system
6. Disconnect the power cable for the Fan 2 assembly from the system board.

You can now access the six memory slots. Review System Memory / General Memory Module Installation Guidelines and carefully install the new memory modules.

I have provided some pictures below to help you.

Mike

Beeping Upon Bootup

dependent on how many beeps you hear is dependent on what might be the problem. A fuller explanation from pushing the power button to nothing happening would be more than helpful. Beeps in a Poweredge can mean motherboard, memory or as you said power supply problems.

No Boot on 1600sc

The easy answer is: Did you ensure the CPU fan connector is attached to the PROPER motherboard CPU fan power pins? The 2nd easy answer is: Are you sure your CPU is properly placed inside the socket? Could it be tilted slightly up on one side? The more complicated 3rd answer is: I've seen people use the spray can of AIR, which, believe it or not causes a moisture problem AND can overly cool a component. Although the motherboard looks fine, it won't boot or power on until the part(s) rewarm to room temperature or the moisture dissipates. This is how I solve this problem. I remove the motherboard or open it completely up to clean it with 80psi of compressed air. (remove all components) If it had previously been cleaned with a can of AIR, I let it sit for half an hour. When putting the parts back together (leave the HD, the CD, the floppy disconnected), (oh...ensure your front panel connectors are properly on the correct motherboard pins too.) 1)take extra caution with both the video card and the memory chip slots!! Inspect the video card gold edge and video card slot for a few strands of carpet fiber or DUST bunnies wedged or attached to the card/slot (which causes the computer to not power ON) 2) Inspect the memory sticks and memory slots in the same manner. (I had to see it with a magnifying glass, to see the problem) Once back together, if it boots, I'm done. If it didn't boot, I replace the power supply. If that didn't solve it, I reposition or change the RAM memory. Attention to detail is the key to success. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
