You will need to open internet explorer on a computer and enter the setup page of your wireless router. As you dont state what router and model number you have there is very little info i can give

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

Connect the Router (Up link to modem, Port 1 to computer) Boot computer, you should get an IP address in the range of 192.168.1.xxx Open a browser (IE/Firefox etc) on the address line type 192.168.1.1 press enter You will be prompted for a username and password. Leave the username blank, password= admin Once logged into the router, you can set the wireless settings then save and then you can connect via wireless. For Wireless security codes, you can use the default suggested by the router, or as I recommend, use an old 10 digit phone number as WPA key 8009993355 for example as it is generally hard to guess but easy to remember.

Although this does not sound like a router issue, if you can't remember your router password you can reset the router itself to factory defaults by using a pin and pushing it into the pin hole on the back of the router near the power source. Once this is done you can reconfigure the password and your network.


I believe however that you are referring to a website or something similar where your credit info can be accessed. In this case there should always be a contact option to get in touch with some sort of support people who can help you to reset the password.

Yes. Are you referring to the WEP password which you use to connect to the wireless? If you are referring to WEP you can reset it by logging into the router through the admin panel with the admin login details(assuming you have them) and then chnage or reset the WEP password. If you are dont have access to the ADMIN console and also the WEP then you have to reset the router to its default settings. But before doing that please make sure you know all the settings with which the router needs to be configured with.

You should not need an installation disc.

Connect your PC to the router with a network cable and type 192.168.1.1 into the browser adddress bar. This will connect you to the router setup and maintenance screen, from where you can configure the router. If necessary you can reset it to factory settings and enter a new password.

You can then disconnect your cable and use it wirelessly.

Yes there is a reset button on the back of your router. Hold it down for 10 sec and it will reset all the config back to default. If you are using a lnksys then the default ip is 192.168.1.1 and the login info is admin and the password is admin or keep it blank.

Push the reset button for about 15 sec. and release it. Then use:

Defaull IP address: 192.168.1.1
Default Username: <blank>
Default Password: admin

you need to check the router documentation - open a web page and log into the ip address supplied, you should receive a logon screen, type in username and password as noted in manual. If you don't have the manual, you can google model - should be able to find instructions online.
