Question about Sanyo VHR-5428 VHS VCR

1 Answer

Change date prefix

Have a "very old" VHR-5428 that is in perfect condition but I can't program it because I can't change the "19" date prefix to "2000". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow! This is the first Y2K question I've heard in a while. I doubt there's any way to change the year, but there might be a workaround. Why use real dates - why not just play along and pretend it's still the last millenium? Can you set the time and date manually?

If you want to record something tomorrow and the machine thinks today is 7/13/98, then just set it to record on 7/14/98.

This won't work if the unit is one that sets time automatically from the signal on cable, and you also won't be able to use the VCR Plus+ codes. But if you can set everything up manually, then this should work for you.

How change RF channel in Sanyo VHR H772

Is there a small screw on the back near the aerial? If there is it's the RF adjuster. Turn it slightly. You will then need to retune the TV. It's best to have a video of something running so you know what to look for. If the VCR doesn't have a screw at the back, the RF adjustment will be on a menu somewhere.
You might need to retune both VCR till you get clear of any broadcast station. I must point out that if the TV has a scart socket you will get a much better picture from that. If it has only one and you have other things connected, get one of the scart switching boxes (Amazon). It will solve any connection problems.

You can't press enter without the remote. Your only hope is to go on eBay and search for the very same remote control. Be patient and check for a couple of weeks if you have to. Especially now that it's Christmas a lot of people will be selling their old remotes on eBay.

This unit needs new rubber parts. I don't know the particulars of your model, but it has drive belts and/or an idler assembly that needs to be replaced.

INSTRUCTIONS

You can search the manufacturer's site or provide the manfacturer and model number of the VCR in a reply and I can assist you in performing the search.

I often find success either searching for the manufacturers site and entering support and either entering the model or finding another link for manuals.

Alternatively sometimes searching for the manufacturer's name and model followed by the words "users guide" (no quotes) can do the trick.

No remote or manual.

So we're basically screwed when the recording speed is stuck on SP? We can't change it??

I have a Sanyo VCR and just bought a universal remote, hoping that I'd be able to access some kind of menu to change the recording speed. I can't get it to change the speed, though.

Is there any hope for me?
