We have the same problem with ours. The first one we got about a year ago and within one month it would not turn back on. We thought the kids had broken it so we bought another one. Same thing with this one. We are soo unhappy and can not get any help in fixing it or getting any money back. Does anyone know who can fix this???

I have the same problem. The console does not respond with batteries or DC outlet. It turns on momentarily to show "Vsmile" on the screen and then it turns back off. Then it just doesn't respond anymore. We had it over a year and I doubt that I can take it back to the store. Please help

My kids had there v-smile for about 11 months then it would not turn on so I called the v-tech help line 1-800-521-2010 I had to stay on hold for about 30 minutes then had to deal with a lady that was very rude to me but she did help solve the problem...she told me to unplug the adapter, take out all batteries and make sure everything is unhooked from the game then hold the on button down for 1 minute (NOT THE ON AND OFF) and that will restart the system.. I made sure i tried it before i got off the phone with the lady because i didnt want to wait another 30 minutes to talk to someone again...It did help my problem...hope this helps you.

I called Vtech's Toy Electronic helpline at 1-800-521-2010 and they told me to unplug everything from the system and then hold down both the on and off buttons silmultaneously for one minute. This worked to reset the system, and get it to turn back on. maybe this will work for you as well.

I also called after trying the above solution. The tech told me to clean my cartridges with a alcohol dipped q-tip and let dry for one minute. Try turning it on while waiting for the cartridges to dry. My screen turned on and then when I tried the cleaned game all was working. The lady said bottom line the dirty game was causing the problem.

I want to pluge a v smile on my tv

You need to use the composite (Red, White, Yellow) connections that come with the Vtech. Once connected you will probably need to change your TV to use the 'EXTERNAL' input source.

I bought my children the V-tech smiles gaming system, it's been put away for 6 months tried to plug it in today, the controller won't work. any suggestions.

does the controler take batterys make sure controler is pluged in all the way if all else fails maybe a damaged wire under the plastic since the controler is not wireless the little wires under the plastic are prone to breaking it may have a warranty to it there should be a number on the box or station itself

My daughters v. smile will not turn on

The ac adaptor has to be set to the correct voltage , there should be a small adjuster on the mains plug.
1.5v for each battery ( regardless of battery size ); so 6v for a 4 battery , 9v for 6 battery , etc.

Vtech v.smile got wet. Need to know how to open

get a needle, heat it and meld a hole in the covers (round inserts) on the back. skrew a little skrew in the hole and pol de round thing out. Take a kros skrewdriver and remove the skrews. Also under the battery cover are 2. take of the cover and you can see the inside of the unit. Dry them, also the plastic contacts on de prints.

Vsmile keeps turning off

Here's the solution to your V smile: Oxidized connectors! Remeber the original Nintendo back in the 80s? You had to repeatedly reinsert the cartridge so that it would work properly. The V smile has the same problem. They use tin plated copper contacts on the game cartridges as well as the internal connector. All newer electronics use gold plated contacts because gold does not oxidize (rust, corrode). You'll need a very fine sheet of sandpaper. Start by lightly sanding the game cartridge connector (you have to expose the contacts by pushing the plastic part in). Make sure you wipe the contacts clean with a rag, and do not touch the contacts with your fingers! Then you have to do the same with the console's internal connector. The danger here is bending one of the pins inside so be very careful. The real solution to this would be to replace the connector but no one sells it (checked ebay, Vtech). Should last a couple of months to a few years, depending on relative humidity and use. If your V smile turns on normally without a game cartridge, then this is your problem. Symptoms vary from no power to corrupted graphics to no sound as well as random turn off (with a cartridge, no problems without a cartridge). I've done a few lately and all are working like new. Let me know how it goes, but I take no responsability for bent pins, damaged connectors, fire, earthquake,...

Game will not start

Turn the cartridge the other way and try pushing it in with the game name facing towards you. This should work.

My daughter v smile pocket does not work

Sounds like the contacts on the games need to be cleaned. On the game cartridge, push back the little cover and clean the gold colored contacts on both sides. I use a cotton ball or q-tip with alcohol on it. Let it dry before you put it back in the v.smile.

Power won't come on

This is a problem with the cartridge not the console. The cartridges get dirty and then the console acts as if its broken because it can't read the cartridge. Pull the purple flap up so that you can see the inside of the cartridge and clean it with an alcohol based cleaning solution. Dry the cartridge fully before inserting it back into the console. I have done this for serveral games and they have worked again. A couple of games have just broken and refused to clean up. Hope this helps, let me know.
