My jvc 56' flat screen is showing a message in blue to replace lamp but there still is a good picture?

Well, the message is trigger by the passing of time. The TV simply counts the hours the TV has been on, then when the counter hits the designated amount... the message starts to appear. Best thing to do is order a lamp and have it on hand. You can go into the TV menu and reset the lamp timer for now, just to get the message out of sight. When the lamp does fail, change the lamp and reset the timer again. I hope this was of some assistance, best wishes.

Upon powering up TV the green light comes on and within a second or two the red light comes on and intermitintly flashes, The tv never comes on?

The lamp or the ballast may be faulty. You'll need to replace the lamp first if this is a DLP. That's the cheapest solution. You can buy a lamp for your TV from discount-merchant.com.

56" sharp 56dr650 rear projection tv

Hi - wanted to let you know that I have the same problem and I contacted Sharp (800) 237-4277. They offered me a prorated exchange. Select #1 prompt for Operations and then they will create a case number if you don't already have one and then send you over to the Disbatch Dept. They are picking up my 56" TV and are selling me a LC52"D65U for under $450 current retail value of the new TV $1900. Give them a call and see if they can work out a deal for you too. The whole transaction will take 7 - 10 days. Good Luck!
