I have a brother MFC-665CWprinter and it read that the black ink is empty. It was not empty but I replaced it anyway. It still reads "empty ink" . I can't use the printer at all.

I also have the same problem I have a near ink empty black msg that will not go away. The ink was replaced today using Brother Ink. I have tried turning the machine off and on ( unplugging) and reseating the cartridge several time with no help. This is what the owners manual says to do.

Hp Designjet 500 not recognising ink cartridges. the ink carts were nowhere near empty but coming but the printer says replace bought new ones and put them in and the machine is not recognising them...

I've had that problem with unfinished cartridges showing up as empty. I imagine that it could be a bad cartridge as well but I hear and feel the ink when I shake the cartridge. Therefore the ink is there. I also have a problem with some inks. I find the HP inks work perfectly whereas other manufacturers' inks work on and off. I need a solution as well. Right now I have full cartridges that are not picked up by the Designjet sensor. Any idea?

If it show low or near empty it still print.

You can use black tape cover at ink catrige on position of sensor.
Many people do like that it work.

Operating problem as described below

unplug mfc from power outlet. take all carts out and leave scanner open. wait a minute. replug to power. wait until machine demands carts. insert one after another and ANSWER display! Close cover.

NEVER change cart until mfc stopps printing (near empty is a reminder to buy new ones :-))

Magenta Near Empty??

This is only a reminder! The cart will show "empty" when it is really empty. You can print on until the printer stopps because of empty cart (and prints on when it is replaced).
Take the new on out and put it in again. answer display question with "1" (Yes, cart changed). "Near empty" Message will disappear.

Brother MFC 210C All-in-One Ink Cartridges

near empty message is a reminder: plz buy a new cart (but do NOT change until EMPTY). You still can print.

the ink left in an empty cart keeps the system alive when some ink is neede for the automatic cleaning cycle.
If you print until this cart is really empty air will get into the tubes and ph. That leads to faulty printings.
brother had made sure that the amount of printable ink can be consumed. The rest is for service.

Cartridge not recognized

Yes. Unplug machine from power. Wait 5 minutes. open scanner and take all the carts out. close scanner. plug machine to power again. machine will do the start up cleaning. Machine demands carts. insert NEW carts and give the answer in case you are asked by machine.

Do only change the carts when machine stopps for EMPTY cart. As long as it shows Nearly Empty everything is alright.

The machine has a drop counter and counts the ink drops down to zero when the flag is raised within the (nearly) empty carts. In case you take them out at that moment and reinsert again the ink inside will splash and raise the flag again. Control logic will be in trouble....
