I have the same problem, It works at an external display and the lcd and lcd cable work on another laptop. The problem is that i have a sony vaio and it has no inverter, or at least i dont see one like an hp laptop for example. i tried to switch image from external monitor to lcd and it doesnt work. i tried everything. dont know what to do more, Hope you can help. I do not see anywhere online to buy just the LCD cable. Most places want you to buy the whole screen as a replacement. You could check Ebay every now and then, someone may be parting one out and you could probably get it cheaper!
S1 and S2 buttons are called special Function keys. By default, the S1 button turns the Volume On or Off and the S2 button toggles the display between the LCD and the external devices. You can also change these buttons assignments on the window for changing the S button assignments. To display this window, press and hold either button or launch and navigate through VAIO Central (Start, All Programs, VAIO Central).
If the computer is still under warranty with a complete care or accidental damage protection then you may return it to the reseller and ask assistance in replacing the LCD. If its already Out of warranty then you may bring it to the nearest Sony Authorized Service Center to have it fixed.
explain to them on the defferent the old and new regarding the lighter.. check the inverter maybe the inverter only problem because if the lcd there is no inverter of course the lcd will not give exact light its dark.....
Try to remove the battery, remove AC adapter, and press and hold power button for 45 sec. reinsert battery, and Plug and try again, if that doesn't solve it, you may need to try to change memory first, (cheapest) or the motherboard or CPU.
