My wireless router is only a few months old, but suddenly it has stopped working. my internet connection is fine (i can connect to either my laptop or my desktop by connecting to my modem directly), but when i try to use the router, i can no longer connect to the internet. all of the ethernet ports are working and my cables are fine, so i don't know what the problem is. I have reset the router and the modem several times, so that's not the problem either. Is there a solution, or should I just give up and buy a new router?

I would call the professional and have him replace/repair it for starters. There is obviously something wrong with the hardware or the connection of your Internet Provider, ether way the install should test the connection and stand behind his installation. If you paid this guy demand, politely but firmly of course, to repair it. 2DAYS OLD, I would be livid. By the way I do the exact same thing as your professional.
Try again by Disabling the WEP (or WPA), MAC Address Filtering and Firewall Setting Individually. Should be a problem with one of those. Then when you receive the Signals, try to Adjust using Bottom Up method. That means one setting at a time, Hardening the Security.
Have you checked your DNS settings? Have you checked the Channels you are using? Re check them and try again.

Sounds like you need to configure the PC's USB wireless adaptor. The settings must be the same as the router. If you use a WEP password on the other connections then you need to have the same password on the USB wireless adaptor.
if you got an orange light to the router, It means that there's no Internet connection or not working from the router. I might advice you to check the Internet connection from your ISP, then check the configuration of your router or you might needing to reconfigure the router.
you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
