Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

Craftsman garage door opener 1/2 HP

It was working perfectly and I tired to change the battery on the keypad and ever since the keypad wont open or close the door. I tried three different batteries with no luck.

Sounds like it has lost signal strength and the door cuts it down to the point that the receiver never gets the signal when the door is in the way. If it did that before you replaced the battery then you will have to replace the keypad.

Craftsman 1/2 hp opener won't open using the outdoor keypad. It will close when using the outdoor keypad but not open. Wall unit closes and opens it. changed battery in keypad, no difference


If your hand remotes work okay then the keypad has lost signal strength and needs to be replaced. If your hand remotes act the same way then your logic board is bad.

I have never seen a keypad that didn't take a phillips screwdriver. I would be tempted to drill out whatever is there and find a screw to fit after changing the battery.

Trouble with programing garage remotes and keyless entry pad


Either the keypad is the wrong model for your opener or it has reverted to an earlier technology and needs to be replaced. It is important that you get the model number off your motor unit so you can be sure you get the right keypad for your opener.

Craftsman garage door opener (1/2 hp) - light flashing


most of the time when the lights start flashing on them and they won't work it's something in the way of the eyes that cross the garage at the bottom are something bummed them and there not lining up no more check that first.
