Cleaning the bottom of my rowenta irom.

I thought that I had the right temperature for my syntheic tank. Well, when I touched the iron to the fabric the tank melted. How do I get the brown stuff off the bottom?

Wad up a large piece of wax paper, turn off your steam and "iron" the ball of wax paper. The gunk comes right off the iron and sticks to the wax paper.

Hi,

Rowenta does sell a soleplate cleaner kit. But if you must do it yourself, I use nothing but Q-tips, a wooden orange/popsicle stick to genly scrape the tough brown stuff...and finish it off with "Dutch" cleanser, and old cotton sock, either dry or with a tiny bit of filtered drinking water. Do not use anything stronger, as the soleplate can be easily scratched.

Cannot get black stains off with the cleaner kit from Rowenta that I bough at Bed Bath and Beyond. Used almost all of the cream and still not clean. adjina39@aol.com

Are you heating up the soleplate first to get it really hot, then put on an oven mitt to protect your hand, squirt cream onto a folded pad of clean cotton fabric, then apply to iron sole plate, rub over stained area gently, wait, then rub off. you may want to rub the whole iron sole onto a piece of waste fabric to remove the burnt bits. Itcan take a couple of goes to clean. The ironing press cleaning sticks work well too.

My rowenta steamer is not producing steam but tubing getting hot when I turn on steamer. Suggestions?

see this causes and fix it. God bless you

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .

If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.

If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.

If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

Soleplate is dirty

Rowent sells a hot iron cleaning kit. It comes with a tube of cleaner, a piece of white terry cloth and a piece of cotton flannel. You spred some of the cleaner on the terry and iron it. Melted fabric and other grim clean right off the iron. Then you polish it up on the flannel. Good luck!

TO CLEAN THE BOTTOM OF THE IRON, MY NAN USED TO ALWAYS IRON BROWN PAPER, IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, USE A RAG DIPPED IN THINNERS, OR LIGHTER PETROL AND RUB GENTLY.

NORMALLY THE SELF CLEAN SYSTEM IS JUST A BUTTON NEAR OR ON THE TANK THAT YOU PRESS WHILE THE IRON IS ON AND HAS WATER IN, PRESSING THE BUTTON WILL FORCE WATER THROUGH THE STEAM JETS (SO KEEP IRON FACING DOWN) ALSO EMPTY THE IRON AFTER EVERY USE
