Unable to listen to tv through the surround system

Your BEST TV-related audio would be brought in directly from each external source you watch, NOT the TV itself (if TV's were hi-fi we wouldn't need audip equipment), so, yes, digital audio is the ONLY way to go. Having plenty of connections on the TV is NOT going to give you HI-FI multichannel audio from all of them.

Hearing my television through my home theater system

Without knowing anything about your TV receiver all I can assume is that the TV has a least an RCA analog audio OUT. Run that to any available analog input on the HTS. make sure the TV's audio controls (hidden in a menu somewhere) is set to Fixed so the TV volume won't affect the HTS volume. Then you can turn the TV speakers off and still listen through the HTS.

You'll only get stereo this way. Ideally, you would have a digital audio source for the TV audio signal.

How to hook up my TV,home theater system, and digital receiver

Hi,
To guide you on the exact cabling, I need to know more details like the model of the home theater and the TV model ..
However, to keep the things very simple; All you need to know is the direction of the signal. Now, we want the sound signal to travel "OUT" from the TV and travel "IN" to your Home theater home theater so that the signal gets amplified and is heard through Speakers of Home theater system so the cables run from
"Audio OUT" of TV ---------> "Audio IN" of Home Theater
All the cables are color coded.

Now Similarly.. You want the signal to travel OUT of your camera and IN to the TV so that you can see the larger image and louder sound .. so.. connect the cable that you received along with the camera into AV/TV "OUT" on camera to corresponding "INPUT" color coded ports on TV.

Please let me know if that was too complex to understand and I would try to simplify that further.

Regards,
Srinivas.

No sound from plasma to home theatre

First off it's always best to start from scratch when it comes to home audio. LoL. Many times I've been in this situation.
So with everything disconnected. You should have your HDMI, COMPONENT, RCA(R,W,Y)
HDMI and COMPONENT are the exact same thing and in all preference COMPONENT is far better thand HDMI for the pure fact that each wire is in it's own casing and insualted to avoid feedback from the other wires.
Anyways, with everything disconnected we begin
From you Cable/satellite box- Run your HDMI cable from you cable box to your HDMI 1 input on your tv.(If your speakers were to work on your tv you would automaticaly get sound and picture)
That should be all that you should be running from you cable box. Now that we have one thing running we go to the next thing.
From your TV run your audio out (RCA Red/White) to your amp. Usually your preference but more than likely your TV IN on your amp.
With your amp now set on TV, you should automatically get sound from your tv. and if your running an HD cable box even though your only running RED/WHITE to your amp, you will still be receiving Digital sound.
Most new amps Should have a digital input and if your running and 1080iUp this one RCA plugin will give you dolby digital sound from your dvd player to your amp. Then running a video rca up to your tv, will give you the picture, while the digital out on your dvd player to your amp will give you dolby digital sound.

It's a basic simple step to get sound. Like a continuing current. So just as long as you have your cable to -- tv -- home theatre. Everything should work. Otherwise I would go and check your cables and make sure they are not faulty.
I hope this confusing walkthrough helps.

FYI only:

HDMI = High Definition Media Interface
DVI = Digital Video Interface

That kind of conflict (that's what it is) is tough for any one company to assist you on since it involves two manufacturers.
If you are very lucky, you might get help from a tech who has already stumbled across the same equipment complement.

Do you have tv tuners installed and setup properly? Media Center 2005 is just the software, the computer needs to have hardware tuners in it and hooked up to external antenna or cable.

Home Theater install

yes sounds about right what you are doing as long as you have 2 digital audio 'inputs' on your Bose to get the audio from the dvd player and cable box. Apart from your last part "I will then use Digital Audio from the Bose to the TV." The tv will only downrate the audio to two channel stereo, so its not worth puting audio through the tv as you only get stereo anyway, so might as well let the tvs speakers power it out themselves.
