USB optical drives never require a driver when used in Windows XP. This
device is 100% Plug 'n Play in Windows XP providing it's a good drive
and plugged into a working USB port. The OS
will detect and install a USB drive automatically without user
intervention within 4-7 seconds normally. When it does so, you will get
notification that the install was successful and that the drive is now
ready to use.
If it has never been prepped, ie: partitioned and formatted, then that
task will need to be performed using drive prep software usually
provided by the vendor/manufacturer or by using the built-in
partitioning and formatting feature that Microsoft included with the OS.
