Replace electronic touch pad on model esa3156 air conditioner

You need to remove the screws holding the grille assembly in place. Once you have the grille removed, you will see the access to the touch pad.

I looked at my humidifier last night, it looks like it hasn't worked in a long time. the filter cage had thick build up where it had been sitting in the water. How is it suppose to work?

A couple questions so I can be sure we are talking about the same machine:

Is your humidifier, located near your furnace, and in one of the sheet metal ducts?-- These kind circulate humidity through-put all the open registers in the connected heating system...

Or is this a portable humidifier that you place in one room, and that room is the first to get the increase in humidity-- These are portable, plug-in-the wall powered units.

The first ones (Mounted in the duct..)
Usually has a rotating 'cage' that has an absorbent pad -- maybe 10 inches in diamter-- and a little motor and gearbox, that slowly rotates this pad thru the trap of water in the bottom. As this bad rotates like this, and the house system's air fan is drawing air past this wet pad, you can see how moisture would be added to your house and it heated air.
This pad needs to be replaced at least annually-- So -- can you replace that pad?-- The local hardware store can sell you replacement pads, and you just stable, or sew them on the large wheel-- Make sense?

If your's is the portable kind-- There may not be a rotating drum-- but maybe stationary pads?
-- Can you remove them?-- and take them to the local Hardware store (after they dry!!) - carry in a sealed plastic bag, for thre may be some nasty mold spores in those pads!

Tell us more-- we want to help!

How to remove pad

I am assuming that the pad you are talking about is the concrete pad? if it is I am hoping that you are just replacing it with a newer one. You will have to lift the unit up by all four corners, you can use the red bricks(or concrete), and angle iron(under the unit going to the bricks you spaced away from pad) once it is up enough you can remove pad. Hope This Helped Tim

I believe error E9 is a touch pad error. Shouldn't the unit still work via the remote?

No the control panel recognizes the error pre remote signal therefore the remote won't work either. You may need to replace the touch pad.

Touch pad on

It is more than likely the touch pad that is faulty. I have installed many bonaires, and the only thing to go wrong at that age is the touch pad, or the problem is in the control box in the airconditioner.

The touch pad comes off quite easily by placing something flat behind the pannel and leavering it off gently. The touchpad has two pieces, the front, which you see, and the mounting bracket. The bracket is almost as big as the front pannel, so you only have approx 2-3mm of plastic edge to lever, so be careful not to hook onto the mounting bracket as well.

Once you have removed the front, you can then unplug the lead coming from the touch pad (be sure to turn the control box off in the airconditioner before removing this wire, there is a switch on the side of the control box (yes, you have to get on the roof, sorry)). Take the touch pad to your local retailer that sells Bonaire units and see if that is the problem.
